Marci is a young career women of the nineties, excelling in all facets of life. Marci, twenty-four, is a chemical engineering honors graduate and is employed as a research scientist. Besides her job, she always manages to find time for cooking/baking, family/friends, and community service. Food has always been of interest to Marci. From the time she was in preschool, she was rolling out cookie dough and cutting out cookies. Later, at the age of nine, she became involved in the 4-H food nutrition project. The Betty Crocker cookbook became her textbook with all the helpful hints and easy-to-follow recipes. Some of her favorites included coffee cake, strawberry shortcake, standard pastry, apple pie, pumpkin pie, cream puffs, and meat loaf. During the nine years that she exhibited at the county fair, she received numerous blue ribbons and received top exhibit awards for pastry, apple pie, and yeast rolls (recipes from the Betty Crocker cookbook). Because of her love of cooking, she became a 4-H foods leader for three years, was a five county 4-H camp counselor outdoor cooking demonstrator. Upon her graduation from 4-H, at the age of seventeen, Marci received the highest, most prestigious 4-H award, the National 4-H Congress award for the Food Nutrition Project. Community service has always been a part of Marci's life. After four months on the job, she began serving as a volunteer primary Drug/Alcohol and Wellness representative for the Absorbent Technology Department. In addition, she is also a Junior Achievement consultant. Last spring, she taught a six week program focused on business basics. Marci's family appreciates all the special foods she has made in the past. And she continues to help making foods for special holidays. She never misses a special occasions and now lives within easy driving distance to her family's home farm. Before her grandfather's death in 1986, she visited her grandfather in the nursing home almost everyday. Later, she became a nursing home volunteer. Also, Marci's friends are important to her.
