She is a hardworking human resources manager at a large defense contractor in Albuquerque and, at the same time, is a wonderful wife, mother, and community volunteer. My wife has always enjoyed cooking and was busy in the kitchen helping her family since she was in her early teens. She is an avid collector of cookbooks and subscribes to five cooking magazines. In fact, my wife is such a good cook that we don't eat out very much any more, because we can always have a better meal at home. Our three-and-half-year-old daughter has inherited her mother's love of the kitchen, and together they laugh and cook and make messes in the kitchen. Our daughter's name means "star" in Spanish. One of their favorite activities is to bake a star-shaped cake, using Betty Crocker cake mix, of course, and then frost it and decorate it. My wife's favorite Betty Crocker products are the cake mixes and frostings, and one of our family's real favorites is Au Gratin Potatoes. My wife has developed a special Christmas tradition. Throughout the year, she collects our favorite new recipes, including those that she creates herself, and makes an annual cookbook that we share with our most special friends. My wife makes time for a variety of community activities. She has served on the boards of the local children's museum, the Stanford Alumni Club, and Leadership Albuquerque (a local leadership development program). We have also been involved with a variety of ministries in our church parish. She has worked as a mentor to high school students as well as to black student interns. In this day and age a woman has to fulfill many different roles, and it is difficult to juggle all of them successfully.
