Cora Putnam is a package of energy, love, fortitude, concern, and confidence. She has a glow, a warmth about her, that has touched one and all.
Days and nights were bursting with child care as each child had severe health problems. Her seven children developed into responsible, hardworking adults through her sole guidance, her constant endurance, and vigorous love. When the children eventually grew up and left to answer destiny's call, she found herself raising two granddaughters.
Her jobs found her as a nurses aide, a waitress, and a restaurant manager. She baked cakes at home and local restaurants sold them as their own "homemade" desserts. Her Betty Crocker Cookbook was a constant companion. She worked three jobs to pay the bills and keep a roof over their heads. But dinnertime was always an adventure in food-her beautifully done roasts, at the very least three vegetables, and always two home-baked desserts.
The hard work never stopped. Her spirit never wavered. She attacked each day with vigor and might. Her neighbors and friends benefited from her constant generosity. Senior citizens were the recipients of glorious meals and scrumptious desserts year after year. Church raffles increased due to her cakes being auctioned off. Especially enjoyed was her Betty Crocker pound cake made with loving hands.
Now she has moved to Florida. Moving to a new state has meant meeting new friends and receiving visits from old ones. So there is Cora still making scrumptious meals and her wonderful special cakes.
