My daughter, Lisa, graduated in March 1996 with a major in home economics education from Georgia Southern University. Lisa is a member of the National Home Economics Honor Society, Phi Upsilon Omicron. The qualifications for the society are the following: student must maintain a 3.5 G.P.A., excel in leadership, and demonstrate high morals and good character. Even though Lisa is very bright and innovative and has won many, many honors, she is very humble and unpretentious. Growing up on a farm lent itself to exposing Lisa to all facets of homemaking and helped mold her into the homemaker she is today. Lisa's love for cooking developed at the very early age of six while she stood on a stool and assisted her grandmother in cooking chewy bread and cookies and rolling dough for dumplings. To this day, no one in the family can bake chewy bread like my mother's except Lisa. She still continues to go to Grandma's, who is now eighty-five, and helps her cook whenever possible. Lisa is a very responsible young lady who sets high ambitions and fulfills those goals. One goal of Lisa's is to one day host her own "cooking show" on public television and share her expertise in the kitchen with the audience. Perhaps, she may even publish her own cookbook! Lisa's favorite Betty Crocker product is the brownie mix. She enjoys baking them for any occasion because they're delicious as well as quick and easy to prepare-and they're always a success!
