SPIRIT OF BETTY CROCKER CONTEST WINNER
Dawn Nemitz
Minooka, Illinois
Spanish Rice ..........Click the Edit tab and select this entry to open the recipe.
For my wife, cooking and baking are a complete labor of love. Dawn has a gift that can transform a typical meal into an extraspecial dinner, and the more the better! Some people cringe when guest's need to be fed-Dawn thrives on it! No one ever left our home hungry. Ask Dawn to attend a party, and the first thing she wants to know is "What can I make?"
Dawn has an energy that people want to be around, from her youngest niece to her eighty-two-year-old father-in-law. She enjoys having fun and she wants others to have fun, too. Family and friends hold a very special place in the heart of Dawn Nemitz.
To work full time, take care of two boys (ages nine and three), keep house and home in order, and still have time for her husband is way beyond the call of duty. She gives freely of her time and talents and expects nothing in return.
Dawn has unselfishly volunteered her time for many causes. She has been a volunteer fund-raiser for United Cerebral Palsy, as well as a board member for the friends of United Cerebral Palsy. Dawn is a regular donor to the Heartland Blood Center and has helped raise money for Misericordia Homes (homes for developmentally disabled children). When the First Presbyterian Church wanted a cake walk for the kid's Fun Fair-Dawn baked, frosted, and delivered two dozen cakes, plus cupcakes and cookies. Dawn Nemitz is very much involved with bettering the lives of others.
