Sally has been teaching home economics to seventh and eighth graders at Oakhurst Junior High School in Clarksdale, Mississippi, for the past six years. She teaches "life" skills to help those young people cope with today's problems and build their self-image and self-esteem.
Her interest in baking began early as she helped her mother at home. Her interest in food and cooking continued, and she began a part-time business producing original, distinctive cakes for special occasions. With her sister-in-law, they have earned a wonderful reputation throughout the Mississippi Delta region. Now, no Delta wedding would be complete without a "CHOW" cake.
Sally states that she has been a Betty Crocker fan for years. She is especially pleased with the frosting and the frosting mixes because of their smooth texture, excellent flavor, and ease of use. They work up the same each time, giving consistent results. This is so important for her students so that they can gain confidence in their work, even as neophyte bakers and cooks. The same could be said of many other Betty Crocker products.
When she isn't busy with her schoolwork, Sally can be heard playing the organ for her church's congregation. As an outstanding, active member of Oakhurst Baptist Church, she participated in a number of it's ministries, most recently as chairperson of the Scholarship Committee, and in other capacities as called on.
Sally and I just have celebrated our silver wedding anniversary this past August 30. We have two children, Lisa, twenty-two, and Bradley, twenty. She has been an ideal mother and wife for us, exhibiting great energy and resourcefulness to utilize her talents and skills to make and provide a wonderful, comfortable home.
