I told myself that Betty Crocker is really my sister. She has been married for thirty-four years and is fifty-four years old. She is the mother of six children and a grandmother of four grandchildren. While raising six children on a farm, she also managed to feed all her people, including on some occasions the employees. She even makes her own bread.
Her children are crazy for desserts, and you should see the baked goodies that come out of her oven. She now works as a cook for the Medaillon d'Or (Golden Medallion) of Lachute, where she feeds eighty elderly people that love her. She uses the Betty Crocker French vanilla cake mix for a number of desserts. To it, she adds nuts and almond extract to make a nut cake, or sometimes currants or candied fruits seasoned with rum. She uses it on fruits to make puddings or cuts it up in cubes to make bagatelles (ladyfingers with a creamy sauce). She adds to Betty Crocker icing, coffee liqueur or cocoa cream, to the pleasure of her gourmet guests.
She was involved in the worship and sacrament committee of her church for many years. She was secretary-treasurer of the Women Farmer's Circle of St. Philippe, and has been a member of this group for twelve years. She has volunteered at the local library for ten years and has been involved with the local Church Education Committee. Also, she is the baby-sitter of her four grandchildren.
