My wife, Teri, epitomizes America's woman of the 90s. She is active in the community, her church, her profession, and most of all, her family. The mother of three children, she is a little dark-haired dynamo. Teri works in the dental profession as an oral surgery clinic supervisor of surgical assistants. One of the nicer touches she brings with her to the workplace is her practice of providing each co-worker a home-baked and decorated birthday cake on his or her birthday. Teri has always been a believer in serving within her church. She has served in many capacities, including working in the children's ministry, hosting weekly Bible studies in our home, special activity nights, and food distribution to the poor. Her most touching experience was in El Paso, where she went out into the streets of the border ghetto areas to hand out groceries to the poor and homeless as part of the church food ministry. Teri is firm about family tradition. She insists on family dinners, even now that the children are in high school, and routinely fixes big breakfasts on the weekends. Teri's schedule is quite full, yet she continues to prove more than capable of providing a nurturing atmosphere for a family on the go. This year, she was instrumental in applying for and acquiring permission to host a Russian foreign exchange student in our home. Due in large part to her own accomplishments and to the positive influence she had had on our children, our family was recognized as Family of the Year at Goodfellow Air Force Base and submitted as its nomination for the nation's Great American Family's competition.
