Mediterranean Spread

   ___ cup peanuts
   _ 15 1/2-ounce can garbanzo beans drained, and 3 tablespoons liquid reserved
   _ tablespoons lemon juice fresh
   _ tablespoon peanut oil or olive oil
   _ garlic medium, crushed
   ___ teaspoon salt
   Dash black pepper freshly ground
   _ tablespoon parsley minced fresh
   Whole wheat pita bread, cut in triangles, or sesame crackers


Place nuts in a food processor bowl; cover and process until finely ground.

Add beans, reserved liquid, lemon juice, oil, garlic, salt and pepper. Cover and process until mixture is uniform and well blended. Taste for additional seasoning.

Cover and chill or serve immediately. Sprinkle with parsley. Serve with pita bread or crackers.
