I love it - and the people behind it. First, the software is awesome. It is so simple to use! You can purchase cookbooks or create your own with your own recipes or ones you download. You can use different layouts, or save pictures of the recipes. So easy to organize any way you want. (Cooking can be a big enough chore without being able to find the recipe you're looking for.)
Secondly, in the rare event of needing to contact anyone for support, they are prompt and get back to you fast. These people are as friendly as you could hope for and go out of their way to assist any way you ask. I have had Cook'n for over 5 years, and only recently have I had any kind of issue - and overnight I received the answers I needed to get back up and going again... Can't give them high enough marks. - If you're not as happy as I am, just tell them you want your money back - they'll do that too!!

I am totally pleased with Cook'n 10 after having 8.2. Had a few questions and contacted technical service. They were able to set me on the right path. It was so easy and took care of my problems and concerns. Recommend this to all who would like to salvage and preserve family heirloom recipes, favorite recipes and what a great list of cookbooks to download at great prices.

If anyone is interested in a Cooking/Recipe program I can highly recommend Cook'n 10. You can link it to your smart phone and have your shopping list on hand. We've used it in the past but, the current version (10) is really simple to use and a lot more flexible than the older versions. It just keeps getting better. I can also honestly say that the tech support is tremendous. These guys have helped me out in a pinch more than one time.

I have had a hard drive crash and bought a new computer. Customer service has been great. They have sent me a new download link within 24 hours both times. I have had this software for a few years, I started with Version 8. I think it's great, if you want to capture recipes off blogs you can copy and paste and even add the picture. I copy lots of recipes off facebook, and add it to my facebook cookbook. It is so wonderful! ...Cook'n you're the BEST!!!

I loved this product before - trying is believing! But with this great customer service they are awesome! Just to let anyone know that if you are not great with computers - either am I. This product is so easy to use and I love that I can add recipes off the internet or even my own family favorites. It will also change the recipe for you according to how many people you are serving. The benefits of this product go on and on....

I've used Cook'n for well over 10 years and it is a fantastic program. I used it to make a cookbook for our family reunion last summer and I was able to use features that I couldn't have used if I had had an online cookbook publisher do it for me. I'm not the most advanced computer user but can usually get things done that need to be done but whenever I have had a problem with this program, (and it has always been my problem, not the program's problem), I have gotten excellent, quick help from customer service and they never make me feel incompetent! Over the years I have probably had 6-8 encounters with customer service and they have always been efficient and solved the problem quickly. I have had other cooking programs and they were either so difficult to use or could not do what I wanted, that I gave up using them within a short period of time. That is not the case with this program. I use it almost everyday and couldn't be happier.

I have been using an archaic program from the early 90's because I can't find a new one that is as easy and contains all the features I like. My husband bought me Cook'n for a Christmas gift and I was afraid I would never use it. I was wrong. It downloaded with no problem, came with a quick video of all of its features and I was entering my recipes and organizing them the way I like in no time. My other program was so old that this new program couldn't automatically convert the recipes, but most newer programs will convert and save all the entering time. However, if you do have to re-enter, this program is quick and flexible. I really like the "capture" feature. I can go online and find 4 or 5 versions of a recipe that I want to try, "capture" them, which automatically enters them into the program, then compare, try and save the one I like the best. When I've had a question and need customer service, they have been quick to respond and eager to help. They seem to value having satisfied customers and I've been very happy with the service I've received.

I'm a happy Cook'n customer...particularly want to praise their quick and expert customer service. I have had questions on two occasions and each time I received a response within 24 hours which answered my need. This is a company that cares about the customer base and works hard to continually upgrade and improve their product.

This has been a time saver in that I no longer have to thumb through books, clippings and recipe cards to find what I am looking for. It has also freed up needed space since I no longer have to store recipe cards and clippings of things I want to try. Ordered this in December 2012 and initially had some issues with the software (memory leaks). The DVO team was responsive and worked hard to fix the issues I was experiencing. They were great and getting emails from Dan the company president checking in and letting me know that they were working on the problem I was having was great. Customer service with a personal touch is alive and well at DVO! Thanks guys!

Through the years I had tried several electronic cook books. This one tops all of them by far. It is fun, simple to learn and simple to use, especially with the video instructions available online. The few times I did not understand how to download something, the company supplied all the information needed. I always received a prompt response the few times I needed extra help. "WARNING" If you take the time to learn how to capture recipes from the web, you may become very addicted. If anyone is unhappy with this product, don't just give up. Contact the company, you will not be disappointed with their service or their product when you are done. It is a tool every home cook and chef should have. I believe it truly is the best!

We all know nothing is perfect for the needs of every person, especially food allergies like mine. I've already found important things the software doesn't do that I need it to. But it is still a powerful piece of software that meets most of my needs close to perfection. And for the needs not met: every person on the staff and technical crew has been not only extremely helpful in training me to use it, but receptive to my wish list for their next upgrade. That's so important because I have so many special dietary needs threatening my health (gluten free, cow-dairy free, refined sugar and artificial sugar free). I need a software program that can handle these vital aspects. I'm not looking for just a simple organizer for recipes, but a source of recipes and, just as important, the products that meet these dietary needs. I've been busy filling this software with just that info for all my future recipe conversions. I'll definitely be staying with this software.

I have tried a few other cookbook software programs but I feel this is the best out there... I have successfully created my own cookbook, captured recipes from major websites as well as blog sites and I have printed out my personal cookbook in many different formats/templates. I find it very easy to manually enter recipes as well and if you have particular brands you like you can easily add them to the ingredient and brand master list... This is the cooking software I have always wanted. I would not hesitate to purchase this software if you are looking to better organize your recipes.

If you are looking for a "new" tool to have for the kitchen, pick this one. It has so many features and applications to pick from. You can import your favorite recipe from favorite chef into this product and save it to your own cookbook recipe file. You can write your own (family recipes) into it. Make sure you watch the video to get the most out of it. The available electronic cookbooks from their web-site are many and not too expensive. Already comes with a DVO cookbook with hundreds of recipes. Customer Service is fast to answer your questions and polite. You really need to think about this one.

Firstly, this is the first recipe software that I've had the pleasure to try. I'm a housewife and home user, not a pro user. But I LOVED it. Here's why: *Better than Pinterest for collecting recipes from around the web. The capture feature snags them and saves them in my recipe box, letting me print them to recipe cards or add them to my shopping list and meal plans. This feature worked on an Italian site as well as English so language doesn't seem to be an issue. *Gives me nutritional information for my recipes (very handy as I'm trying to drop a few pounds) and adjust recipes for different number of servings. *Various cookbooks are available as in-app purchases that import the recipes directly into your recipe list. *Most importantly, this software is super easy to learn/use and a snap to set up. *One other cool thing I think is worth a mention is that mobile apps are coming soon (for iphone and ipad so far, I believe - hopefully others soon). As a serial cookbook and recipe collector, this software has been just what I needed to keep my kitchen in order and help keep my favorite recipes all in one place. I'm sure we're going to be friends for many years to come. If you can get a copy of Cook'n for a fair price, I'd recommend it!

I have had recipe software in the past but they can't hold a candle to Cook'n. It is a dream program and ANY TIME I've ever had a problem a tech and/or Dan has spent as much time and effort as was needed to get me up and running again. (The problem usually was that my computer crashed due to a virus and not a problem with the Cook'n software! I would be lost without it. I have created my own chapters using old family favorites as well as newly collected recipes that accumulates over time. I am really ADD and needed this to get organized and keep myself on track. My thanks and appreciation go to the Oaks for making life so much simpler by coming up with this software..

Once upon a time ago I went looking for a way to organize and keep all my recipes in one place instead of slips of paper that come up missing. I researched the internet and found Cook'n. I feel it is one of the best recipe software programs on the market. I recently upgraded to the Version 10. I ran into some difficulty and they proved their customer service is outstanding. Their response to my email and the remote repair of my situation to save what I thought was lost was exceptional. The program is so user friendly to enter your treasured recipes handed down over the years or to capture new ones on the internet. It takes the work out of planning a weekly menu and creates a shopping list for you! I could go on and on but trust me, you'll love this program!!

One word describes this software - WOW! When I first heard about it, I have to admit I thought "why do I need another recipe organizer!" But - I was so wrong! It far exceeds my expectations, and I have just begun to scratch the surface of all the features. It is user friendly, but in the case one is unsure of how to use it - the videos are so well done and helpful. It is so much more than just another cookbook or organizer. One can manage menus, access nutritional content, create decorative recipe cards, adjust serving sizes, drag and drop features, capture and import recipes from off the internet, and so much more. It is well worth the time to watch the demonstration and see all that this software offers. If that is not enough, they offer a complete refund if not satisfied - in fact they go the extra mile and will purchase another software of your choice. There is no way to lose with this! To be totally honest I just about love everything about my Cook’n program and I depend on it to design my meals, menus and shopping list every pay period. It truly helps save money and makes my life so much easier. Because of the program we have been able to stick to the monthly budget and not order out so much. I print out my menu and post it on the refrigerator which completely eliminates that “Oh no what am I going to cook?” panic that previously turned into frustration because I was tired and couldn’t think of something fast, easy and delicious to cook and that turned into my spending money I really couldn’t afford to spend by ordering out. So again I say thank you for this program.

Cook'n is the most efficient recipe software I have found, online or in-store. There are so many options when you are loading your own recipes into the system. Another feature that made me very happy was the ability to add and delete not only ingredients, but Brands as well. It is so customizable! I gave this product 5 stars, not because it is perfect, as nothing or anyone in this world is, but because it is so very user-friendly with so many options, and the customer service is superb!

[Cook'n 10] is lightning fast, whether it be to load a recipe, or change the ingredients. Best of all the program loads within seconds. For a program this massive that's not something that's easy to do. If you are looking for a cooking program, this is the one to have... You can also add thousands of recipes by buying additional cookbooks and a very reasonable price. I really like this program and I feel confident you will too.

This Software is GREAT. Easy to use! Video instructions are available if you need help. And you can email tech support for anykind of assistance. I use this on my PC laptop and my MacBook. I can share a recipe with my sister and she can import it right in to her Cook'n. The best thing is at Thanksgiving... I can plan the whole menu and print my grocery list. Can't wait for the IPAD App to be released.

About 8 years ago my husband was looking for a program to help me learn to cook. He found Cook'n and bought it for me. I had brain surgery after becoming very ill and as a result, this meant I had to have a craniodomy and the recovery was slow. I had to learn to shop and cook again. He would put this program on and it would show how to create my grocery list and it would have videos of how to prepare dishes. He would sit my laptop on my window shelf above the sink and I was able to figure out how to once again cook. I have been using this program and I feel without the excellant videos and all of this companies unwavering support, I would not have been as successful in learning to cook again. I have learned to use the meal planning menus and grocery list and I have been able to keep my pantry stocked and more importantly rotating properly with this AMAZING product. I have worked with DVo's support department and they too have been nothing but patient and helpful in making certain that all my request are resolved and that I am using their product to its full potential. I am currently working on entering all of my husband's parent's recipes and cann't wait to have them published in a cookbook for our future generations! I LOVE COOK'N and if you try it, you will too! THANK YOU each and every DVO employee for a FANTASTIC product!

This software is fantastic! I work full time, plus I am a wife and a mother. Before Cook'n figuring out "What's for dinner?" was borderline tramatic. Now that I have Cook'n I just pick a meal from my cookbook and drag and drop it into the menu plan for the week. Then with a click I can generate a shopping list. I check off the items that I already have and they aren't included in the shopping list. Making my cookbook was a breeze, also. Most recipes online I could easily capture into my cookbook with one click. Other recipes that I had to input manually only took a few minutes, because of Cook'n's quick drop down menus for adding ingredients. I don't have a smart phone or an i pad to send the recipes to, so I just print the ones I don't already have in my card file. I print them to a 3 x 5 size and then I cut them out and tape them to a index card, it takes just a few seconds. Thanks Cook'n creators and staff! Totally cool product!

I have used the last two versions of Cook'n, and I am so excited about the capture feature that version 10 has. It is simple to use, and the best part of Cook'n is the outstanding support. I have printed recipe books from my favorite recipes for shower gifts, wedding gifts, and I have found the email updates very informative! I enjoy cooking and saving family recipes, and this, in my opinion, is the best software on the market. I did a great deal of research a couple years ago before purchasing cook'n, and I didn't hesitate when version 10 came on the market.

I have been using Cook'n for more than 15 years. Each upgrade makes it easier and easier. I have given all of our children the program. That way they always have their family recipes close at hand. The latest version allows them to have their own cookbook on the program which can be exported to each other as we share. I could go on and on about all the features of the program. One I like the best is the ability to change the serving size of any recipe. A great feature when you are having a large group to dinner and your recipe is only for 2 people.

Not only can you store recipes in the Cook'n Recipe Organizer but you can make meal plans and shopping lists based on your recipes, analyze nutrition, print all your recipes into a cookbook, and so much more that I'm sure I haven't come across yet! YES! This software is amazing. It will 'capture' a recipe right off the web, drop it into whichever cookbook you specify, and even adjust the servings to fit your family, event, or party. How cool is this program??? I love it. Already my recipes are getting organized and so is my day-to-day menu. Now that I'm a working mom I sure don't have much time for the grocery shopping or for making menus. This program has helped me to save tons of time. A couple of weeks ago I got to the grocery store and realized I'd left my shopping list at home. I'd planned my menu, figured out all of the groceries and just left the list on the counter. I realized if my list had been on my phone this never would have happened. Cook'n is better than I could have ever imagined a recipe software to be. Do you know how hard it is to keep all this organized? Really hard. One of the coolest things in my opinion is the menu feature. Once you have your recipes in there, you can go into the calendar and say what you are going to have for each day. You can print that so the whole family knows in advance what is for dinner. AND it comes up with a grocery list for you!

When introduced to Cook'n a few weeks ago, I was beyond impressed. You know that I love to cook and bake! You also know that I love organization. My favorite functions of the program are the ability to create shopping lists and meal plans. I love being able to map out the week, especially when I can go ahead and include quick meals for busy nights. Plus, it helps James and I both stay under our calories every day when we plan our meals in advance. The shopping list feature is also helpful, as it cuts down on all the last minute trips to the grocery store for that one ingredient you forgot.

Another great feature is that I can search online, using the Cook’n search bar and find recipes for things I want that are posted online. I enter the type of recipe I want into the search bar and click search. If I know I have certain ingredients I want to use, such as chicken, celery and carrots, I can type that in to find recipes that have those ingredients. Once I find one that I want, I click the capture button. The software imports the photo, if there was one, all the ingredients and instructions. It leaves a link back to the website in case I need it in the future. Then I can save it into the default recipe cookbook that comes with the software, or I can add it to my own cookbook.

By using the menu function, you can painlessly plan your meals for up to three months in advance! Once your meals are planned, you can compile a shopping list to print up. Not only does it compile your shopping list but it can also store pricing information in the list of ingredients. The software already has many ingredients stored within its memory, including UPC number which I assume it then bases price on the recommended retail price for that specific item. This alone can be very handy to use the prices listed on your shopping list to judge if your grocery store is above or below normal retail prices on items that you use often. This is one of the features that really made my jaw hit the floor because it was much more than I had expected.

The features are really more than I could imagine and very user friendly too. You know I love searching for recipes online, and this program actually has a built in feature to where one can search for recipes online, snag that recipe, and save it in the program. What is nice about Cook'n is that it converts it to a really nice easy to read layout. I LOVE the layout it has--very clean and includes the internet page the recipe was taken from. It is quite an intelligent program--it lays everything out for me in a spreadsheet just to make sure that I double check it, and then it comes out looking like this! I have captured quite a few recipes online already and was delighted that it even took the picture of the food right off the website without me having to do any extra steps!

Once a recipe is saved and brands assigned, you can click on the Nutrition button at the top of the screen and it will open up the nutrition screen for that recipe. It will take the individual ingredient nutrition information (from the database and/or those that you have entered). It will give you a total nutrition for the recipe. You can also select settings and have it divide by the number of servings to see a per serving nutrition data for the recipe. I love this feature! I have been going in and adjusting the ingredient list to make sure it includes the ingredients (brands) that I normally am using, so that I can get the most accurate information. This makes it so much easier for me as I diet.

Well I am loving my new software program! It can do so much and I could not be happier! It's the Cook'n Recipe Organizer. It is the neatest program ever. I am having so much fun organizing and sorting my recipes. It has mad a huge difference in my life. I had tons of recipes saved on my computer and now they are all in one very organized place. It is also helping me get all the loose saved recipes organized. It is so nice to finally throw away all those loose papers and know that I can find just what I want when I want! But I can also find new recipes online and add them right to my files in the software. I don't have to click and paste and print off a bunch of extra stuff. Just a few little clicks and it is added to my cookbook and it is there for as long as I want it. No more searching over and over to find the site where I found that neat recipe from. I first want to express my heart-felt GREAT JOB!!! to the team. I just downloaded and installed the Mac version. I then did a restore from my PC Cook'n backup. It worked perfectly with no problems. In fact, Where the PC version took 3-5 minutes to start up and load all my cookbooks, the Mac version does so in well under a minute! SWEET!!
I am just so thankful to finally have Cook'n running native on my Mac. My hat is off to the entire development and support team.

Following the e-mail thread below, I phoned your support line last week and got Jeffrey on the phone. He was courteous and extremely helpful and the problem was resolved. Congratulations on having a company where good people like Jeffrey work. I work in finance in a software company now and have run an IT department (with an internal help desk) and, as a bit of a techie geek often get these calls from family so I know what's involved. You're obviously giving your support team at least *some* of the tools, training, and encouragement they need to be on your front line.

The tutorials are very helpful too. My family enjoys the recipes. I bought Cook'n many years ago, but didn't purchase the backup disc. I just installed your recipe software and love it! The best feature is the list feature that enables you to find out exactly what you need to pick up from the store....but the greater part of this feature is the nutrition information! For someone like myself who tries (not always successful) to watch their weight, this feature proves in-valuable. Just to cook and have an idea of how many calories one will be eating (estimated of course) instead of searching each nutritional info on each box, or a book or web site. I love that I can look up a couple ingredients and find a recipe for dinner. I recently received the apple corer and peeler and I don't know how I have lived without it before. I have a problem with my thumb and this will save me from peeling and slicing apples (and potatoes) for dishes. My family will be happy too, since they will get more yummy treats. I am a converted Living Cookbook user and until I got into Cookn I wasnt sure I wanted to make the change. Once I saw what you have done, I was hooked. There are a couple of things that might lend themselves well to Cookn like the Recipe Capture capability, but even without it, Cookn is head and shoulders above the competition. By the way, you can thank Dell & QVC for getting me hooked on your products. I purchased my Dell laptop from QVC last year in time for Christmas. Part of that purchase was a package of software including your Cook'n with Pillsbury title. I am a cookbook collector by nature and have about two dozen hard cover cookbooks. It's been great taking the handful or so tried and true recipes from those books and putting them into my own "book".
Also, some friends of mine at work have recently begun a recipe club. It's honestly more like an old chain mail ... you send an email to 20 people who all send it to 20 people, etc., but it has resulted in me getting a couple dozen new recipes to try. I sent everyone two recipes, one of my own creations and your version of Cafe Rio dressing (yes, it's a favorite of ours!). For the Cafe Rio dressing I sent them the link to your website and I suggested they check out all of your books and even the Cook'n club. I've told so many of my friends how great it is (I love knowing the nutritional breakdown if multiplying or dividing a recipe and the grocery list features!) and hope they see the light and purchase.

I first encountered your Cook'n software in 1999, in an offer from H&R Block Tax Cut software. Since then, I have been a faithful user and have collected nearly all of your titles. All of my family recipes have also been added, so no need to scrounge through my mother's old recipe box any longer.

My name is Tobius Holmes, and I am a Social Worker and Caregiver for a special needs lady.
I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you for the fantastic software your company has, my job is to plan this ladies entire day, and that includes meds, appointments, schedule, and the main one is meals, well I can tell you with my day being crammed packed with things to do I never had the time or energy at night to plan, and make a meal for the next week coming up, but with your software, I don't have to worry about that any more, after I bought a few books to go with the software and set up the different recipes and cookbooks, I was on easy street!
Now all I need to do is go into the software, go to the cook book I made for weekly menus, set up Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and Supper with a few clicks of the mouse, print and I am done! This takes me no more than an hour a week to do, before I was always combing through book after book and internet sites looking for some thing for the weekly menus, then having to find the time to put it all together, no thanks!

There was an out-of-print cookbook that had a lot of really great recipes, but it kept getting misplaced. It is great to just enter a certain type of food or ingredient, get a recipe and then print it out. No books to sift through. I recently took up the responsibility for spearheading the collection and organization of my family's recipes. (Some are more than 100 years old.) In my quest to come up with a scalable, and easily-managed solution, I tried several other products for organizing these family treasures. I even came close to launching a Wiki, but then I recalled just how technically challenged some of my relatives are, and came to the conclusion that I needed something that would allow me to easily print recipes on the appropriately-sized cardstock.

I'm loving my Cook'n. It's revolutionized my participation in my family's dinners. My girls and I did our first grocery store run using our Cook'n shopping list. It was great! I love my Cook'n. I am addicted to logging all my recipes on the program. I am a pack rat who has cut out recipes from magazines for the past 20 years and my recipe box is a disaster. I dont even know what recipes I have. Most I have not even made. I know I will utilize my recipes now that I have Cook'n and enjoy this so much! My friends are even calling me with ingredients in their fridge and asking me to give them a recipe they can make for dinner. Plus it's just the 2 of us and I have a hard time cooking for 2, so I like the idea that I can cut change the serving size on recipes. That will make my husband happy. First let me tell you how much I am enjoying my Cook'n software and the Cook'n Club. I had another software program and it crashed on me. Since I was going to have to buy a new program, I checked out the competition and found Cook'n. I had major reservations about spending so much on software, especially since we are retired and money is a little tight. But it was definitely worth the cost! I have to say that so far I LOVE this program. I have always considered myself very "culinary challenged" but I'm trying to start cooking more to save money, lose weight and feed my family a healthy meal. However, I do love messing around with the computer, so this program has finally made it easy for me to plan meals and grocery lists using my computer! I especially love the fact that you can adjust servings, as I cook for a family of 5 (which usually means for 6 people given the way my teenage son eats!) and now I can easily change recipes I find to accommodate more people. As a former computer programmer, I want to tell you that your program is very user friendly and forgiving. My errors do not hang the program in it's tracks. And, it's not supposed to either. I was not too sure about downloading the program and having it run. Afterall, it' been almost 10 years since I retired and I have forgotten many things and computers won't let me do the things I used to do in the system. I am so happy with the software that I really felt compelled to write and say thanks for developing a really useful software program.
I have a 1 1/2 year old and 3 mth old, needless to say life can be a little chaotic. It took time, but now that I have my recipes in, meal planning is easy. The shopping list is so convenient, and I was able to shop in less time, only get what I need, plus I even prepped what I needed for the week!

I just wanted to say that I've used the adding recipes to Cook'n and I just love the idea of being able to break down amounts so that I can prepare something for just me without having all kinds of food left over. I don't mind left-overs, but when one has them three or four times a week, one gets sick of them. I do freeze them once in awhile, if I think I can freeze them without adverse effects, but I'd rather not fill my freezer with that stuff when I need the space for my shopping perishables. I only shop once a month, big shopping, so I buy excess meat and veggies. I find I spend less money this way.

I recently purchased Cook'n software and I have to say that while I've only used it for two days so far, it seems to be the program I've been looking for. I am preparing to run a charteryacht, featuring gourmet dining, in the Virgin Islands and wanted some sort of database where I could store all of my recipes, create weekly menus tailored specifically to my guests' preferences, and then with a click of a mouse, create a precise shopping list. Since space is limited on the yacht, I don't want to over stock. I read your note in the user's manual with regard to the complexity involved in converting all of the different units of measure from all of the recipes to create a meaningful shopping list. It was that nightmare that kept me from writing my own database. Thanks for saving me from that!

I have had your CD Cook'n Deluxe for 3 years now. I kept waiting for a glitch, loss of information, etc. It is just simply wonderful. For years I had my recipes all over the place, and I looked for a way to save them. Writing them into a book, cards, and noting cookbooks were all messy, and futile.
My brother gave me a different software, and I started copying @ 35-40 recipes. It was tough work. I then looked online for other software and found yours. I chose yours because of the comments made by other users. (The complainers didn't really sound like they had a leg to stand on) So I am letting you know that I am giving a CD to my daughter for her birthday, and have told everyone at work how tremendous your software is. I am using it to store my myriad of recipes, but other people are interested in your other features. Great job. You are a genius!!!

I had purchased a different cookbook software which I wasn't happy with but used it anyway, not wanting to waste hard earned money. Unfortunately, my computer crashed and I lost the registration file for the software. After reinstalling the software, I contacted the site to get my registration and was told I would have to pay another fee for my registration number. Not being happy with the software anyway, I decided to look for something different and came across your program. I love it! It has everything that I was looking for in cookbook software in a very user-friendly package. I like being able to download new recipes from the newsletter and I especially like being able to get regular updates. I recommend this to everyone that uses a computer cookbook. I'm embarrassed to say that I purchased it for myself and my 4 daughters for Christmas last year because I had heard how good it was. I'm a teacher and have summers free. Because I have difficulty with the computer, I decided to wait until summer when I had concentrated blocks of time to dig out my Cook'n software and "learn" to use it. Well....I forgot all about it until I got your email about the new recipe cards. I noticed the online demo and after viewing it, I realized how easy it can be to use the program. I too have used Cookin' to print out recipe cards. I have my own book in my Cookin' program, I think there are over 200 recipes I have put in. Family favorites passed done from generation to generation, as well as some speedy and healthly ones from this one. My son lives in Germany, so a couple of years ago, I printed out the book, all put on 4x6 cards. He loved it, and no more calling Mom at 2 in the morning wanting a recipe for donuts! I imported all of my cookin cds onto one of the new sentrino laptops which can fit into a shoulderbag, and am now able to take it to the grocery store, recipe and shopping list in hand. This is one of the BIG reasons that I bought your product. I have been trying for years to create a cookbook that can be passed on easily to my daughters and daughter-in-laws. This is about as easy as it gets, and I love the ability to create my own specialized cookbook, print on cute cards and stick them in a binder. The fact that I can also create a years food storage program for these receipes at the touch of a finger is incredible. You have such a great product for so many reasons, and I talk about it to everyone if I visit with them for any length of time.

Last Christmas, using your software, I created a cookbook containing about 200 traditional family receipes (many of which had never been written down, some at least 100 years old). Then I exported the entire cookbook to text. I opened the text file in MS Word and did massive reformatting. This could be printed to make hard copies for those family members who have no computers or want something to work from in the kitchen. I purchased the product specifically for this family project and it has worked really well.
Your cookbook product is easy to use and very flexible. Thank you!

My father ordered your Cook'n with Taste of Home program and had printed some recipes for me.
When my son asked for me to copy some of my recipes for him I went looking for a recipe program to use. My father had just the right program that I needed and I ordered my own copy of Cook'n with Taste of Home.
I am making copies of our favorite family recipes for all four of my children for Christmas. I am putting them in binders with plastic sheet protectors so each one will have their own cookbook and plenty of room to add more recipes.

I e-mailed you last year (2003), asking questions about inserting the degree mark, etc., as I was puttiing my recipe collection (part of it) on 8-1/2 x 11. For Christmas 2003 I had it all spiral-bound with plastic cover fore and aft...82 pages in all, including 1 frontispiece, 1 intro, 1 Table of Contents, and 10 colored separater sheets. The remaining 69 pages were, of course, the recipes - double-sided, so that makes...what? 138 recipes? One of the favorite features was the insertion of anecdotes for each recipe. I gave twenty copies to family and extended family members - and what a wonderful reception I received! And it was all thanks to your great Cook'n program.
Now my daughter (and her friends!) are begging me to produce another. I wouldn't dream of it without your program...and, um, must confess that I've started on "Treasures II".

Just a note to let you know how very much I love my cook'n software. My husband and I are health nuts and we eat everything low fat. I am also hypoglycemic and have to control my sugar intake. Your software is wonderful for calculating the nutrition information for recipes. I love to cook and low fat recipes are so hard to find. Now I just find a recipe that sounds good and I can change the ingredients around reducing the oils and fats and using the software I put in my recipe as I would make it and find out if it is low enough in fat for me to prepare for us. This software has been a wonderful, useful part of my everyday cooking needs. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone who needs to have a very good calculator for nutrition. I'm a stay at home Mom that is trying to pinch pennies so that I can continue to stay at home. Menu planning is key to making the pennies last, but finding time (and I only have one child-but she is a very busy 3year old!) to sit down to plan, make lists, and coupon clip is hard to come by with everything else that needs to be done in a day. I had started searching for software a year ago when I was introduced to Meals for a Month (freezer food). I was discouraged by the price of some of the software. This is the second cookbook software I have had and I like it much better than the last one I had, especially since I like Cook'n with Betty Crocker. That was my first cookbook in 1961 when I got married and I still have it.
When my friends want my favorite recipes, I just print them one using my Cook'n. It makes it so much easier than writing it down.

Wow, finally, I can't believe it. I've looked all over for a computer cookbook that I could not only add my recipes but delete the recipes I didn't want in the book. I went to a computer store here and asked and they sent me to BEST BUY, it recently opened here. I've bought a Sierra Master Cook Cooking Light but since discovered that no Sierra programs will go in my computer. So I kept on looking and I really like Cook'n. While walking around Staples, I saw the Cook'n program and started reading what it had to offer. I was fascinated with everything. So, I added it to my Christmas list, and imagine to my surprise, I received it from my husband.
I was overwhelmed and thrilled with all the recipes it had. I was excited to get started using the program. I have only a few added, but with time I can add more and throw away all my wrinkled, stained, and torn recipes I have written on paper, napkins, or whatever was available.

Cook'n has made my life SO much easier. Preparing a menu was always an unenjoyable task for me. This program takes the guess work out of meal planning and grocery shopping. Her 2nd favorite feature is that she can add all of her own recipes. Well, she can have me do it for her. There is only one thing so far that I cannot figure out. And that is, if you want to make a recipe that makes enough for 5 people, and you only need enough for 2, how do you get that without having to figure it out yourself. I just got my new CD, Cook'n with Pillsbury and love it. I like not having to put the CD in every time I want to check a recipe. I love being able to add my own recipes. I've owned Cook'n 2000 since 2000 when I retired. I began by installing old family recipes and now have over 400 recipes in my file. I am now working with a brand new computer and was faced with the problem of transferring the data. To make a long story short, I hired an "expert" to perform this deed (I'm 81). He was unsuccessful. I emailed DVO and rec'd an answer from Holly. Along with my Texas son who had put all the data on a memory stick, I used Holly's instructions and Voila! all my material was magically imported.
Thank you. I couldn't live without my Cook'n 2000. I needed a new computer because I've recently gotten into digital photography and my old machine couldn't support the new demands.

Just recently received my first newsletter and I really enjoyed it (especially the recipe entry demo) . Although I had figured out on my own most of what was covered, I learned a few interesting things about the software as well. One thing I haven't figured out yet (if it can even be done) is how to move from entering the ingredients to the bottom instruction portion without using my mouse. Is there a shortcut for that? I am also looking forward, with great anticipation, to the update that will include a working spell checker.
I purchased your Cook'n Recipe Organizer last month and am so excited to have found a program that does everything I wanted and so much more. I have been going through all my cookbooks, cooking magazines and my recipe file box and entering all our favorite recipes as well as recipes I want to try.

I'm just starting with Cook'n this evening...adding recipes and cookbooks. It is an awesome program. I chose your program over all the others for a couple of reasons. I wanted 3 things from my program:
1. to be able to enter my own recipes
2. to be able to create weekly menus from those recipes
3. to somehow have the program magically know if I make spaghetti one night and meatloaf another that the shopping list should indicate that I need to buy 2 lbs of hamburger (vs some programs that simply said 'hamburger')
Your program does it all. An added bonus (which I have yet to play with) is the 'Send to Palm' feature!! So, I'm reading your help files and learning. Keep up the good work and know it is appreciated.

I bought the Taste of Home product and have been SO EXCITED. I've been telling bunches of people about it. I was the cook for a Girls Camp last summer and while it was a wonderful experience, it took me clearly a month of work to put it together. I had to find recipes, make menus, adjust them for size, figure out how much of each ingredient to use by consolidating the recipes, and then making a shopping list. Then when camp was over everyone wanted a copy of the recipes! As you can see your software does all that for me. All I have to do is type in my menus (and input recipes if they aren't in there already) and the rest is done for me. All I need to do is shop. In fact I'm so jazzed, I'm using it for my family too and helping to manage my diet by planning in advance and making sure I shop to have all the ingredients on hand.

Just to let you know I have been bragging about the Cook'n cookbook to all my friends. One of the features I always mention is the ability of the program to adjust recipes for a different number of servings. I think it is a great feature. VERY pleased with program! I cooked aboard a fishing vessel for 17 years (Cape May, NJ), feeding 5 hungry fishermen, then 15 years in B&B business cooking breakfasts for up to 15 guests. I am now the chef at a local senior center cooking lunch for 60+ people. I was apprehensive about making the transition, but the ability to change number of servings and have the recipes adjust accordingly is heaven sent and has given me peace of mind and made my meals very successful thus far. I particularly like that you can enter ingredient descriptions before and after the ingredient name. It's very easy to enter ingredients. It's great that you can include another recipe as an ingredient. I also really love that I can transfer shopping lists and recipes to my palm pilot. How often have I been in the store, had an inspiration to make something other than planned, and can't remember what ingredients I need. I'm also looking forward to adding some of your cookbooks for additional recipes. I'll be most interested in recipes featuring natural, whole foods (vegetarian). I like the idea that you can add pictures. I have am planning to photograph some of my favorite recipes with my digital camera.

I would like to commend you for what you have done. I have been a Mastercook fan for years but any program that has no support is a dying program. Your program is a salvation for those who are serious about a cooking database. I have also been working with computers since 1953 with mechanical computers used for Naval gun fire to large mainframe computers for Unisys Corp when I retired in 1994. Therefore I know that program changes such as we talked about are not as easy as most people think.

I want to thank you not only for a great product but for your wonderful support staff. I have had Cookn' Deluxe for several years. I bought it to help me in my Family and Consumer Sciences Classes (home ec). It is great to be able to print out a recipe and divide or multiply it for each kitchen group. I recently left the classroom to become a state supervisor with the Mississippi Dept. of Education. I supervisor over 350 teachers and I have recommended your program to many of them. Last week my office IT person was updating my computer at work and didn't realize what Cookn' was and uninstalled my program. I was at the point of tears. I had many recipes on it and thought they were gone forever. I contacted your support staff and explained what happened. The tech Jeff was able to restore my files, and reinstall the program. I contacted your customer support and Mr. Jeffrey Hammond handled my issue. Almost exclusively when I need to contact a company's support department I am usually placed in the hands of a staffer who is reading from a list of "Try this First"'s and who has very limited (if any) understanding of the product or the problem. I was pleasantly surprised to find this was not the case with your company. Mr. Hammond, it appears, is very well versed with your product and the technology. He handled my issue quickly and quite satisfactorily. I applaud your company for hiring capable technicians and not out-sourcing your technical department.

I was closing my Cook'n and a reminder popped up asking for my opinion of the Cook'n product. I have written a couple times before to tell you that I love this product. At first I was a little frustrated with the printing options, but since the new upgrade I love all the flexibility of being able to print out the recipes to fit my own cookbook.
In addition to loving the product, I want to voice my gratitude for the excellent customer service I received today. I had moved Cook'n from one computer to my laptop and had some major problems. Jeff was so patient in helping me get it back to the way it was. He was very professional and helpful - and he didn't make me feel stupid!! About 9 years ago I purchased Cook n 2000 and have really enjoyed using the program especially producing my own recipe book. You can imagine my frustration when I purchased a new computer that had Vista and during the data transfer I lost all those great recipes. With the help of a friend the cook n 2000 was reinstalled and I proceeded to re enter all my recipes only to have something go terribly wrong and I lost them once again. I contacted your help desk and was lucky enough to get Jeff who worked for hours getting the latest version of your program installed and finding those lost recipes and transferring them for me. I now have about 80 percent of my lost recipes and I am one very happy user.
I wanted you to know how committed Jeff was to resolving my problem, I even made him late for a softball game but that did not stop him from giving his all to resolving my issue. I will be with you for years to come and will let all my friends know what a great program you have and that you back it up with even greater service.

I have used Cook'n for some time now. Two days ago I started having problems with my computer and thought that I had lost all the recipes that I had put into the computer for months! Needless to say I was a bit upset, but started reinstalling my Cook'n. The problem was that I couldn't see all the cook books that I had installed. David was able to help me to get them all back up when Cook'n opens. As far as I concerned this man needs a raise!!!!!!!!!!! He has saved me hundreds and hundreds of hours putting my personal recipes back into Cook'n. I cannot tell you how much I appreciate him. I hope that you keep him around for a long time. I had recently had a computer crash and lost a lot of my files. My husband was able to restore most of it. But one of the most important things I lost was all of my recipes in my DVO Recipe Organizer. All I could do was cry...I had years of recipes that I had typed in it and just knew that I would never be able to get them back. With nothing to lose, I called your company and spoke to one of your employees. And unknown to us we did have a back up file. He was able to repair the problem and help my husband restore my recipes. And was very helpful when we called him back with a couple of other questions. I can not tell you how important his help was to us. I recently had a problem with opening my cook n software program and I e-mailed your support team and they were very prompt in getting back to ( a big plus ) and the answer I received was in very easy to understand language... :) and it worked!! I now can open and use my program again. Can you imagine how happy that made me . I was enjoying the program and adding my own recipes and when I thought I lost my recipes I was upset to say the least. But your support team was wonderful! I have used Coon N 99 since early 2000. I produced a single page, loose leaf type cookbook with recipes from the Hart family and our ancestors. My finished product is almost 3 inches thick. I keep mine in a 3 inch loose leaf binder so I can add recipes as needed. The Cook N 99 software provided an excellent means of producing my cookbook. Now all my living Hart relatives have a copy of the family's favorite recipes.
The bad news is that four or five years ago my computer "crashed" and I lost all my data in the recovery process. I recently purchased a new computer and when I tried to install the software it would not work. I contacted your company via internet and they gave me a link to download an updated version of Cook N 99. Thanks so much for your and your staff's excellent support.

This morning I decided I would work on my phone call errands to get help with problems that I had been accumulating.
I called one company that evidently out-sourced their customer service because I had to constantly ask the representative to repeat what she had said and I completed the call totally unsatisfied with the results and experience.
Then I decided to tackle my Cook'n problems. A few weeks ago I had installed the Betty Crocker Deluxe CD and after the install only had the BC deluxe books in my Cook'n. I had lost all of the recipes that I had added. 'Woe is me!' I thought. I tried a couple of times reopening the software hoping that my recipes would be back. Didn't happen. Also a few weeks ago I was organizing my computer CDs and comparing them to the list of CDs that I thought I owned. I could not find the Cook'n Italian cd that I had listed that I had purchased. After many hours of searching for the cd and not finding it, another 'Woe is me!' escaped my lips. I had studied the support section on your website and could not find any solutions for my problem. So I decided I needed to phone for help. The phone was answered quickly (first surprise), I was asked what I needed and directed to someone who could help me. Anytime I was put on hold, which was not for more than a minute or two, it was refreshing to hear the comedy and laughter...sure beats the sale pitches and your call is important to us that I usually hear while waiting. The tech who answered, listened to my problem and said he could help me and would send me an email with the solution. Then I asked him if he could check my sales history to see if I purchased the missing cd. His history did not go back far enough so he connected me to sales. The lady there checked her records and did find that I had purchased the cd...what a relief to know that it was the cd that I had lost and not my mind. She then informed me that she would email me a new copy of these recipes. WOW! I was not believing this service I was receiving. It was so refreshing!
Within a few minutes I had both emails. Using the tech email solution, I was able to find the backup and restore my lost recipes. Whew! Then I tried to reinstall the Betty Crocker Deluxe. My problems began again. Either I could not load the BC Deluxe books or I wiped out my personal recipes again. I called back and went through the same pleasant experience getting to the tech. This time he talked me through importing the recipes from the deluxe cd rather than using the setup program. While these recipes were loading, he answered several questions that I always have during the load process. After getting the deluxe recipes loaded, I hung up and was able to download the Italian recipes.
As a result of this pleasant and refreshing experience, I wanted to let you know what a great group of people you have working for you and representing your company. Thank you for a great customer experience. It is a good thing to have a superior product but even better to have a superior support team. You should be proud!

I just wanted to thank you for your wonderful product and the efficient customer service you provide to back it up.
Recently, I had two "problems", if you will, and both were taken care of expediently and without playing 1,000 questions from your customer service representatives. They were very trustworthy of me and what I told them on the telephone - which seems almost unheard of in this day and age. Most companies will not even give the customer the benefit of the doubt anymore, nor do they like to make good on their obligations to correct situations without giving the customer tons of grief.
Anyway, just wanted to pass this along to the president of the DVO company because too many times you only get to hear the negative and never enough of the positive!

Your DVO cookbook software saves me time and money. The recipes are clearly written, kitchen tested so that I know that the recipes will work and that they will taste great too. The recipes also print out beautifully and I can even print out a shopping list to take to the store. What more can you ask for? You just can't get that from a printed cookbook.

I want to recognize Holly in your Support department for the customer care she has done in helping me convert from MicroCookbook to Cook'n.
I recognized a few months back that my MicroCookbook was running out of gas and I needed to convert to another software. However, there was no simple conversion programs available due to the age of my software. I sent out E Mails to several different recipe software companies requesting assistance on converting to their software but Holly is the only support person that responded in a positive manner. She said " I can do that for your". What a relief! It saved me from starting over again rekeying my recipes.
Her attitude reminds me of my days in IBM when we made that extra effort to ensure that our customers were happy.

Some time ago I bought and religiously updated Cook'n Deluxe (Version 6.0) mainly for preserving family recipes. Last night something zapped my surge protector and corrupted the recipe files. I lost access to all recipes. Fortunately I had uploaded my backup files to my broadband on-line storage file just a few days before.
Now, I know only enough about computers to get myself in trouble, but with only moderate problems I was able to uninstall, reinstall and download my backup files and I'm back in business.
Continuing to offer the updates is above and beyond the service that most companies offer.

I was having trouble getting all my Master Cook in with my Cook'n until I discovered a very simple thing and after that it all went smooth as silk. It had to do with the recipe names. If they were too long then you couldn't import the book in one fell swoop. When I went back and edited the title of the recipe and made it shorter everything went in like a charm and all 31 books are now a part of my Cook'n. I am so glad that Cook'n is here to stay and the recipes are so easy to scale to just 2 especially at our age. But if the kids are here then I can scale them to 14 or 15 with no problems. Flexibility at this point in our lives is a big help.
By the way the instructions that Holly Hill sent to help me with this were a terrific help.

OK, after 3 days of looking at your product, and Brandon 's quick responses to my emails (thank you!), I purchased your organizer program, plus the veggie and smoothie recipe books.
I've used Mastercook for close to 5 years now, and I love your product! Its far easier to navigate, and much easier to use!
I'd love to see the ability to add videos to future releases. I've got some cooking DVDs and would love to add clips from those recipes to my own cookbooks.
My wife and I would love to see a Vietnamese recipe book (heavy on the vegetarian please!) and a vegan raw foods book too!

I saw your comment in the help file under Unit Information. I use units all of the time in my recipes. I love it. Friends and family members give us recipes all of the time that serve 5-6 people. There are only 3 of us (and we split meat dishes), so the automatic conversions are great!
I use the unit information quite extensively around the holidays to make my baking shopping list. I put my cookie and brownie recipes into a "week menu" and multiply it by the number of servings I need to generate my shopping list.

What is there to not like about your company and programs.
The recipes are great and a sidebar comment is how helpful the tickler program is. I use it exclusively for birthdays, anniversaries and every other important family date. This program definitely works for me. As for the excellent recipes you make available for the "world" is amazing. I download many of the recipes and as time permits enjoy trying on my family. Some recipes are there to just enjoy reading. I am a 63 year old man that enjoys cooking and yes reading cookbooks and therefore RECIPES! Please keep up the great work.

I don't know if it is really you that reads the emails sent to this address, but I hope that is the case. So often, the only time I'm in contact with management or the owner of a company is when there is a problem. That is not the case this time. I had to take a few minutes to let you know how much I truly appreciate your entire staff, specifically Peggy Keele.
I first purchased by Cook'n software several years back and found it to be life altering. That is no exaggeration. My family went from mostly frozen meals to mostly nice, balanced, home cooked meals. I can't begin to tell you how something as simple as having a menu reduced the stress in my life.
We had one incident when my computer crashed and I lost my Cook'n software. I emailed customer support and fully expected to be told I'd need to purchase it again. Instead, I got a nice email in less than an hour with a new download link.
My husband is active duty in the Navy so we move frequently. Just weeks after our last move, I gave birth to our 4th child. Just six weeks after that, my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer. To further give you an idea of how chaotic life got, I should tell you that our oldest child is both Autistic and mentally retarded. Dinner turned into a hurried time fueled with whatever could be quickly slapped together or heated in the microwave.
I'm happy to say that after chemo my husband is in remission and was able to remain on active duty. One thing at a time, we've been slowly putting life back to �normal�. It has been a very stressful few weeks and today I decided that, if nothing else, I was going to get the Cook'n back up and running to return dinner to the family time it should be.
The computer I last used Cook'n on had broken and other than powering up is useless. I spent all day trying to figure out how to move the Cook'n software to my newer computer. I was getting so stressed that I was near tears. I finally went to the website and clicked on live chat. That's when I was connected to Peggy Keele. She likely just thought she was just doing her job but really, she was just the kindness I really needed today. She told me she'd need to verify my purchase but I had trouble even telling her what email we had when I purchased it. She was so kind and patient. She found the three titles I had purchased and quickly sent me links to download Cook'n to my computer. It may sound a bit dramatic but this simple act of patience and kindness from her just meant the world to me. She likely has moved on to helping the next customer without realizing what a difference she made, but I will smile with the memory of her kindness every time I open this software. Just wanted you to know what a fine software you have, as if you didn't know already, LOL. I have diabetes and have lost both of my legs below the knees and your software lets me get all of the nutritional facts so I can adjust my insulin pump. It came in handy when I had to lose 125 pounds. I have created my own cookbook with the help of Cook'n. There are so many great features that the other recipe software's does not have. I could go on forever just talking about all the great features, but that is not even the best,you have the greatest staff, always nice and pleasant and ready to help out, they are always there for you. The technical support, they have help me greatly and guess what, they all speak English. You don't have to try to figure out what they are trying to tell you. I have never got off the phone with them and my problem not fixed. I have both of the Diabetes Cookbooks and they are GREAT. Buy the way, I have running prosthesis and I am able to run again. I just wanted to say thanks for helping me stay on track. Every little thing helps when you have certain challenges. Keep up the good work and thanks again for such an awesome software.

I just wanted to write a special thank you for your Cook'n recipe cookbook maker. We are like many other families this year and are struggling this holiday season. But once I received my Cook' n software, I decided to gather all the recipes I had on index cards, and scrapes of paper. There were many family recipes from family members who are deceased. Due to this wonderful, easy to use software, I decided to make my four children,granddaughter and best friend there own family cookbook for Christmas. I just finished putting all six books together this morning and am so proud that I am giving them something very special and after Christmas, it will be a gift utilized for years to come. Late one night I could not fall asleep (as usual back then) and I was tuned into the Home Shoppping Network Kitchen Clearance segment. I thought that Cookn sounded worth giving a try, and BOY WAS IT! Although I rarely use the recipes, I input my own everyday, and what a shock to see how many calories, and how little nutrition, I was bringing in. I've lost 21 pounds so far, and I've never felt healthier. Cooking for my entire family is never a problem anymore, no crazy fractions to do in my head--everything is there. I just wanted to Thank you, I have finally had a chance to work with your Recipe Organizer. It seems that I finally found a program that give me just what I have been looking for in a Recipe planner.
I think I need to explain, we are full time RV's. We have sold our home and for the last 4 years have lived in our RV a 35 ft Class A Motorhome. When we were raising the children, we cooked a lot and I had a very large cookbook collection. But all of that had to go when we moved into our Motorhome. We have a rule, when something new comes in, something old has to go. Needless to say, there is no room for my cookbook which I loved.
I do have my computer and I have tried several recipe programs. I really have not liked any of them. But I do like yours, it does what I need, and you can't ask for a better cookbook then Betty Crocker or Pillsbury.
There are over 1 million of us full time RV's now, and the number is growing everyday.
We are retired but we work as Managers of a RV Park, A lot of the full timers still work, some are construction workers and their wifes. By living in an RV, the wifes and yes even the children can travel with dad and be together . Then there are just the snowbird. The one thing we all have in common is that we have to eat.
Most of us have laptops so we can keep in contact with the family and friend. And most RV parks and even State Parks have WIFI internet now. So you have solved a problem that we all have. It is boring eating the same old food everyday. Your program it the best I have found . I will be sharing your web site with other RV'er and Friends. Thank you.
I wish I could have all your cookbook but I can not afford it all at once. So I will add one or two a month and as you add more.

A few months ago I purchased "Cook'n"......I have been organizing all my mother's, my grandmother's, and my recipes into this program, and have made 4 " Family Cookbooks" to give to my children this Christmas. This is the gift that I am the most excited about giving this season. I know how much it will mean to them.
I am going to ask all my children to give me their favorite recipes, and I am going to make another "Family Cookbook" with a section for each of them to share their favorite recipes.

I am a 68 year old who just learned how to cook about 4 years ago. I am also a computer freak. So that makes me loving your software, especially when I can increase the ingredients to feed the 14 women in my quilting group. Amazing how neat increasing the recipe works. You have done an unbelievable job on this software. On my little fixed income I really feel that I did well spending the money. My senior friends envy me because they are not computer smart enough to download anything and are afraid to trust anyone on line for fear everything they own will be stolen. I can hardly wait to learn all this program and of course to see all the new stuff I am sure will be coming. I have had a couple of problems already, but your staff helped me right away. I am playing your video over and over until I get it all down. Anyway, enough of this jabber. I guess all I really wanted to say was, Thank You and to let you know that you do have a market for the good old senior citizen. Some of us are still with it.

I just wanted to write and thank you for providing us with such a great product! My oldest son recently got married, and my sister-in-laws, mother-in-law and I put together a "Favorite Family Recipes" scrapbook as a shower gift for my new daughter.
The Cook'n software made the whole project so easy! We used copies of family photos for the "chapter" titles (2 year old faces smeared with cake for the Dessert chapter). It really is quite a keepsake.
There are 14 grandchildren in our family, and only the oldest 2 are married, so it's great knowing that we have such a wonderful gift just waiting to be thrown together!!

I ran across your software today, after waking up feeling depressed that I'm not doing anything "good enough". My husband and I, like you and your wife, are growing an ever expanding business. It takes so much energy and focus, and many times, actually in cycles, I feel guilt over not having enough time with my children. I feel that their growing up so quickly (they're 7 and 3 1/2 years old) and one day, I'm going to blink, and our time together will be gone.
I have put on about 10 lbs. in the last year and my husband has put on about 5 lbs., from catching dinners through drive-thrus. Luckily, my children are active enough to not show external signs of "fast food over-consumption", although I'm sure, with much guilt, their internals tell a different story. We will eat our fast food at the dinner table, trying to maintain family values. But the food is not healthy.
I know it sounds cliche, but I really feel like we as women, and even men, are being pulled into too many directions in today's world. There is not enough time to do everything that needs to be done. I am traditional and feel that a mother's first priority is to her family, but this thinking doesn't stand up so well in today's society. Raising my children and nurturing my family is the only "job" that is truly important to me. They need me in so many ways, and I'm not meeting up to me self-expectations. I feel like I'm failing.
When I read your DVO enterprises bio, I laughed when I read "to my wife's dismay", because as the wife of an entrepreneur, I immediately understood what that meant. You've been supported by her, but also have probably been through moments where you're wife has felt like everything has come to a head, and just can't take it anymore. But she still supports you. I might be wrong, but this is how I've been for 3 1/2 years, since my husband opened his business. I'm supportive, then overwhelmed, then supportive, in cycles.
Then when I read the following:
The family unit is the most basic and fundamental organization in any society and the best environment in which to develop physically, mentally, morally, and spiritually healthy people
I got chills. It is good to know there are others that feel this way.
I applaud the business you continue to create. I didn't know anything like your software even existed, and I've been a wife for eight years, and a mother for seven. I feel entirely too unorganized in my life and often feel if I could just get organized, life could run so much smoother. I could be so much more efficient, and thus have more time with my family. This software will free up so much time with meal planning and shopping, thus leaving me more time with my family. And I don't have to deal with "drive-thru guilt". I think there is a great, un-tapped industry in making women's/mothers lives more manageable and more efficient. I hope this is the direction your business continues to grow. I didn't realize there was help out there.

let me tell you about my story with a family cookbook. I was at home for my Mom's 79th birthday in Sep. 2003 and had some time to just sit with her and talk. She started pulling stuff out of the closet and showing it to me. One of the things she brought out was a box of her writings that she shared with me. The bottom of the box held a stack of hand written recipes that she had collected since high school, some were from friends, some from food boxes, and one was even from her great grandmother and probably dated previous to 1880. I asked her why she had done this. She told me that she had the dream of some day publishing a cookbook, but she allowed that it would probably never happen now because she could not afford it. She had photos, poems, essays, short stories, and had even written a preface to go with all the recipes. No one in the family knew that she had worked on this and no one knew that she even had the recipes. All of the recipes were things we ate growing up, sort of a "Best of Hannah Family Food". My reaction was, "We can't let this get away, it is like a family historical document." So I told Mom that she was right, publishing a bound book probably was not going to happen and asked her if she would consider an alternative, namely computerizing it, putting it on CDs and passing it out to every one that wanted it in our extended family. She was not real enthused about it, but she finally said she would go through the recipes and send me some. She wouldn't let me take any because she was afraid she might not get them back. After I got home I printed some recipes from Cook'n and sent them to her for examples and forgot the whole thing. Three months later I got a heavy envelope in the mail and could not figure out what Mom was sending me. When I opened it, there were photocopies of half her recipes. The rest of the recipes came about six weeks later. I spent lots of evenings between January through early April entering recipes. My summer work is crop consulting for farmers. When that started in mid April, I estimated I would still have to work evenings on data entry all of September to get the project done in time for her 80th birthday on Sep. 30. Come September I spent most of a week entering recipes and the other documents, then printed the cook book and put it into a nice notebook. I burnt data CDs and gave them to my three brothers and told them they would have to get Cook'n software to use the cook book. I'm not taking any chances though, I have three Cook'n softwares that each will get for Christmas. Next each grandchild and the families of each of Mom's siblings are going to get a copy.
Mom really liked the cookbook, but I don't think she quite knew what to make of it. For one thing, I don't think she ever quite expected to see it happen. For another, I don't think she had ever had anything like that happen to her in her life. Now she is asking and telling me that she really did not get everything that she wanted in it and is wondering if she can add on. No problem, Mom, we can just keep on adding and burning new CDs. Keep them cards and letters coming. My brothers liked it; one especially thought it was the coolest thing ever.
Since then I have visited a 95 year old aunt and discovered she has recipes from my grandmother in my grandmother's handwriting. I have taken pictures of those and plan on entering them this winter. The next step will be to contact some of the other senior family members and see if they also have some family treasures. Then I plan on putting out a comprehensive family cookbook for my first cousin's families.
The most interesting thing about this for me, as a male, has been the discovery of an unsuspected network among women that centers on recipes. I just marvel when I am working on these recipes and frequently see marginal notes attributing a certain recipe to a family friend or a relative who has been dead fifty or more years. Seldom would men have any comparable connectedness in their experience.

I have been working on that very project for several weeks now. I have two daughters and have been wanting to copy my recipes for years and haven't found the right software until I found yours. I wanted something I could use to type my recipes and then print them. I also wanted some recipe cards that already had a design so I wouldn't have to use all my color ink printing them. I gave your website to a lady in my Bible study this morning and she was excited about doing the same thing. I bought 3 notebooks and assorted 4x6 recipe cards and plan to give the notebooks filled with all my best recipes to my daughters for Christmas. The section on the recipe cards designated for "description I used to recall funny stories and memories about certain recipes. I can't tell you how happy I am to have found you. I too recently finished a recipe book using your Cook'n software. This is something I have been wanting to do for many years and finally got started in January 2004. It took me until June to enter and edit the 569 recipes that I have been accumulating from family, friends and magazines my entire lifetime and now finally I have all my favorite recipes on one place.
First I created my own cookbook on Cook'n; then with the help of Holly, I printed it to file where I sized the pages and put the book into chapters. I ended up with 20 chapters and for each chapter divider page, I did a "family tree" in photo form beginning with my grandparents and ending with friends. Upon researching printing costs, I concluded it was not cost effective to have it professionally done and so I continued this as a "do it yourself" project. I bought a piece of software which converted my Word document to book form and then proceeded to print it myself using two home printers. Then I borrowed a paper cutter and cut all pages in half, bought some binding combs and with a borrowed binding machine, completed my books. After more hours than I care to think about, I am very pleased with the final product.
I dedicated my recipe book to my granddaughter, the newest cook in our family and each family member will receive one for Christmas. It was indeed a labor of love. I am already beginning the Addendum!
I just thought you would like to know what your Cook'n software program started. And, although I now have my own cookbook, I continue to use your recipes.

Are you kidding????? As someone who frequently cooks for 60-70 people I'm constantly converting units. I've wanted a program like this for a LONG time. Just never ran across one until last night. I have this one cookbook that is absolutely worn out from me flipping pages converting cups of flour to lbs of flour and cups of sliced apples to lbs of apples to buy. I've had programs that would enlarge a recipe, but didn't provide a way to convert those units. I have no doubt that writing this program was not easy. But man am I glad that you did!!!
I'm also very interested in the nutritional analysis of dishes, and have often wished that I could check out the analysis on some of my old favorites. It looks like to me that this program might just let me do that too. I'll have to check on that the first recipe of my own that I add. I can't wait!!!! I'm worse than any kid Christmas morning with a new toy.

I just bought your product today called Cook'n - it's FANTASTIC. However, I am now looking at your web site and see Coon'n Lean - boy I wish I had seen that first, I would have bought it instead.
The reason I bought the product is because I am in a nutrition class, and I have a huge project to put together that would analyze all the nutrients, give recipes, and stay within the DRI's (daily recommended allowance). To do this would take me a month, and your software takes minutes - seconds. I had only planned to use the software until my project was complete - not now. I hadn't expected your program to be so fantastic.
As a matter of fact I consider it lucky. I went to my local computer store and they were having a customer appreciation day. So I registered for their free gifts, and while I read every nutritional analysis program, my name was called and I won a color printer from Xerox. So I got two great things today.

I have been very ill and in a lot of pain for about ten years. I feel better but the pain is still here and always will be. I had this program and started to look at it more and more. My mother and I live together and having two women in the kitchen is tough. We had the Sierra MasterCook software and decided to get organized. We spent several hours going through our pantry and entering the stuff into the "OTHER SOFTWARE". After entering over 100 items, I clicked on the button that said "WHAT CAN I MAKE" and all it came up with was Sugar Water and Pita chips. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.

As a testimonial, I love the program. My husband had a heart attack two years ago and we are on a heart-healthy diet. I have made my own cookbook and added the healthy recipes we like. If you could see all my recipes, I have really made a system. I added astericks to indicate certain things (that only I know) and put a main ingredient as the first word so that all those will come up together (I know I could use search, but this seems to work better for me). Also, I have organized "diet recipes", "get together recipes", "freezer recipes", etc. into categories. Very easy. I have really used this software and would heartily recommend it to anyone.

I'd like to tell you why I bought your Cook'n program, and how much it has meant to us. It was 2 years ago last fall that the doctor told Glenn (my husband) "If you don't get your cholesterol numbers down, it's not a matter of IF you die of a heart attack -- it's WHEN." This news scared me to death! Glenn had been on medicine to lower his cholesterol, and I'd believed it was under control until I learned this. He brought home some papers about what he should & shouldn't eat, but it left me confused. So I made an appointment to talk with his doctor and find out more about what I could do at home. I learned that not only was his cholesterol dangerously high, but his blood sugar was borderline diabetic. (Both of his parents died of heart failure, and his mother was also diabetic.)
Glenn had to go on a low-fat, low-carb, low sugar diet. I left the doctor's office learning that he could have no potatoes, no rice, no pasta, no bread or anything else made with much flour, some vegetables should be limited and corn avoided, limited low-fat dairy, only the leanest of meats, seafood is good (which I'm not too fond of) and rather than cream bases, tomato bases are a good substitute (which Glenn isn't crazy about.)
When I returned home, I told Glenn, "Well honey, my cooking job is going to be really easy from here on out. I'll just boil us some cardboard 3 times a day!" I love to cook and make up recipes, but this was too much at once -- I felt defeated. Hopeless. Lost. The next day my stubborn streak was kicking in again, and I decided to get on the internet and search high-cholesterol diet solutions and then search the same for diabetes. I spent the next 2 or 3 days reading facts, tips, solutions and printing a few recipes from the various sites. Finally I ran across the biggest help of all -- in a blog left by another reader, she mentioned 2 computer programs (Cook'n was one) where you could enter your own recipe and it would compute all the nutritional values so you could see exactly how good or bad your favorite recipes were!
I immediately researched both programs, bought yours, and the rest is history. With my love of creating recipes, it has been a godsend to have your program! I started by putting in some of our favorite old recipes and kept tweaking the ingredients (with healthy substitutes) until I came up with the nutritional numbers I wanted. Then I'd make them, and surprisingly I've been able to salvage MANY of our favorites with little or no discernable difference in taste. I also went to work creating new recipes in the same fashion.

Hi, I thought I would share my story with you since it's your program that made my recovery after brain surgery a success. I had a colloital brain cyst and it had to be surgically removed three years ago. During my recovery, I had to learn to cook again at the age of 45. My husband bought your software, installed it on our computer and would put the recipe video on that I was to cook that day. It was so wonderful because I could replay it over and over and because of that I have been very successful in returning to the preparations of our meals not to mention going to the store and coming home with all the right ingredients. My hat is off to you my friend. My wife and I are trying to get on a budget thanks to listening to Dave Ramsey's radio show and reading his book. So with that in mind last night I was trying to help my wife with planning this next week's menu. A daunting task no doubt. Not just coming up with the recipes to prepare but to then make up the grocery list. So sitting at our dining room table I had what I thought was the most brilliant idea of all. Develop a computer program that would do it all for us. The ideas just came streaming out of me. Scheduling, inputting new recipes, downloading new recipes and automatic grocery lists. The kicker is that I am in no way, shape or form a computer programmer. So I get on the internet this morning to look and see if there is an existing software package. And of course there is, yours. It doesn't have all of the bells and whistles that I had envisioned or look the same as what was in my mind but the basic functionality is there. So my hopes of going to a software developer and making "a million bucks" have been dashed. We wil definately be purchasing a copy (as soon as the budget provides).

I am happy that I purchased "Cook'n Deluxe, Cook'n for Diabetes, and Cook'n for Two." I find your programs easy to use and plan to order the new Cook'n Low Carb today. I noticed that "Cook'n for Diabetics" is on your new relase list. How is it different from "Cook'n for Dieabetes" and would it be an addition or a duplication to my Cook'n Library?

This is a great product. I love the flexiblity of downloading, shipping CD's, or gift certiricates. I intend to buy this product as gifts for all of my married children and will continue to purchase your additional products in the future.

I appreciate the effort that went into making the original versions work seamlessly in todays processing environments. There was a widow of time where my prog was givin me fits but after doing the troubleshooting on the DVO site, it is back to screamin' again. I know I am preaching to the choir but your prog REALLY does have it all. One of my faves is going thourgh our old family recipes and seeing the nutritional info translated.

I love it, Love It, LOVE IT! I've been looking for a way to organize all of my recipes and I truly believe that Cook'n is the perfect solution. This was the first product I looked at on the Internet. Being the savvy consumer, I decided to check out some other companies as well. I shouldn't have wasted my time because none of them compared to Cook'n! If I could make one tiny suggestion it would be to include a spell checker when I type in my own recipes.

I cannot tell you how much I love your cook book. I have on Jenny Craig to lose weight and the food can be expensive. But with your program I am able to put in my recipe and modify the ingredients to achieve low fat recipes. I have told every one that this is the best. The other thing is now my daughter in law can look up my recipes to make for my son his favorties.

I promised to let you know how the vertisserie works and I love it! Chickens, pork, roasts, and a very small turkey turned out really great. The only thing I see as a problem is the door does not open real wide and it is a bit of a juggle to get the dip pan and meat item out with no spills. If you are careful it usually works but a little scary due to the hot juice, etc. in the drip pan. I hope in time will figure out a better way to do this. But really I would still purchase it again because it really is great for small family and the food is moist and delicious. Also much healthier due to the fat grease dripping in the pan and not soaking into the meat.

"I might learn how to cook yet with all this software of yours. You can't believe how much it has helped. I've had friends come over (I'm just a single guy with a dog - but looking for the right woman) and rave about the meals I prepared for them. It's not all that hard if you just follow the directions. In the end I have to tell them my secret, it's not talent - it's your software.
Oh well, the food is still delicious. Now if I could just figure out how to use the dishwasher.
