5 cups apples peeled, sliced cooking (such as Golden Delicious)
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon ground
1 27-ounce jar mincemeat prepared
Pastry for 9-inch double-crust pie
1 egg white large, lightly beaten
Sugar
Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Place apples in a large bowl. In a small bowl, mix 3/4 cup sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Toss with apples to mix well.
Spread mincemeat evenly in pastry-lined pie plate. Top with apple mixture. Complete crust as directed in pastry recipe. Brush top of pastry with egg white and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake 10 minutes; reduce oven temperature to 350° and bake 40 minutes longer or until filling is bubbly in center and crust is golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
Serve at room temperature with ice cream if desired.
