In large skillet, sauté mushrooms, green pepper, onion, and garlic in melted butter or margarine for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove vegetables from skillet. Brown meat in olive oil and remaining butter or margarine until completely cooked. Add paprika, chili powder, salt, and pepper. Return vegetables to pan with meat. Add tomatoes and chilies, tomato sauce, and parsley; simmer for 10 to 15 minutes. Add some water if mixture is too dry. Spoon off any collected fat.
If not using immediately, cool, cover, and refrigerate. Before serving, reheat mixture; warm pita bread or buns and cut in half. Fill pita bread with mixture; if using buns, spoon over and serve as you would Sloppy Joes.
