This delicious recipe works well as a salad or dessert - my family always said they liked it better than ice cream! I prepare it often because its so convenient to have in the freezer. It can be made well in advance of the time you plan to serve it.

1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling or peach pie filling
1 (15-ounce) can mandarin oranges, drained
1 (20-ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
2/3 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
1 (8-ounce) carton frozen whipped topping, thawed
Lettuce leaves, optional
In a large bowl, combine milk and pie filling. Add oranges, pineapple and nuts. Gently fold in whipped topping. Spread in a 13-in. x 9-in. x 2-in. pan. Cover and freeze. Remove from the freezer 15 minutes before serving. Cut into squares; serve on lettuce-lined plates if desired.
