With Gorgonzola cheese, the saying "a little goes a long way" is especially apt! It's a strong but delicious creamy blue cheese.
_ slices French or Italian breads, each 1-inch thick
_ tablespoons applesauce
_ medium apple, cored and cut into rings
_ ounces cheddar cheese, sliced
_ ounces gorgonzola cheese, crumbled
1. Set oven control to broil. Place bread on ungreased cookie sheet. Broil with tops about 4 inches from heat until golden brown; turn.
2. Spread applesauce on bread slices. Place half of apple rings on each bread slice. Top with cheeses. Broil just until cheese begins to melt.
