Caramel Apple Squares |

2 cups flour
3 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
3 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons cold water
1 egg
6 cups peeled and sliced apples
1 cup evaporated milk
1 cup flour
2 tablespoons lemon juice
40 caramels
1 cup sugar
8 ounces cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup chopped peanuts

Combine flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in margarine and oil, blend egg and cold water until you have a thick dough. Pat into 9x13 pan. Mix apples, sugar, flour and lemon juice thoroughly and place in crust. Combine caramels with milk; heat until melted. Pour over apples. Beat cream cheese, sugar and egg. Pour over caramel topping. Sprinkle with nuts. Bake at 325 for 55-65 minutes.
