1 10 inch pie shell
4 apples peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1/4 cup butter
1/3 cup sugar
1 cup whipped cream

Heat oven to 450 F. Arrange apple slices on pastry shell in attractive design. Dot with butter. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes or until apples are golden and cooked through. Sprinkle with sugar according to tartness of apples. Place under oven broiler to partially melt sugar. Serve with whipped cream.
