Broiled Dijon Burgers

These meaty sandwiches prove that the best burgers don't have to be loaded with fat to be delicious! Pile on the fixin's with lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, dill pickle slices, ketchup and mustard. Looking for a few flavor variations? Try prepared horseradish or barbecue sauce instead of the mustard.


   1/4 cup fat-free cholesterol-free egg product or 2 egg whites
   2 tablespoons fat-free (skim) milk
   2 teaspoons Dijon style mustard
   1/4 teaspoon salt
   1/8 teaspoon pepper
   1 cup soft bread crumbs (about 2 slices bread)
   1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
   1 pound diet-lean or extra-lean ground beef
   Hamburger bun, split and toasted, if desired

1. Set oven control to broil. Spray broiler-pan rack with cooking spray.
2. Mix egg product, milk, mustard, salt and pepper in medium bowl. Stir in bread crumbs and onion. Stir in beef. Shape mixture into 6 patties, each about 1/2 inch thick.
3. Place patties on rack in broiler pan. Broil with tops about 5 inches from heat about 5 minutes on each side for medium, turning once, until no longer pink in center
and juice is clear. Serve patties on buns
