Swedish Brown Beans

6 slices bacon chopped
3 (1-pound) cans kidney beans (pour off half liquid)
3/4 cup brown sugar firmly packed, or to taste
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon ground
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg ground
3 tablespoons cider vinegar
Salt and pepper to taste


Sauté chopped bacon until tender. Pour off grease. Mix all ingredients together and simmer, covered, for 30 minutes.
