Soft No-Roll Sugar Cookies |

Prep: 20 min; Chill: 2 hr; Bake: 13 to 15 min per sheet
_ cup granulated sugar
_ cup powdered sugar
_ cup butter or stick margarine, softened
___ cup vegetable oil
_ tablespoons milk
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
_ eggs
_ 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
_ teaspoon baking soda
_ teaspoon cream of tartar
___ teaspoon salt
___ cup granulated sugar
1. Beat 1 cup granulated sugar, the powdered sugar, butter, oil, milk, vanilla and eggs in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed, or mix with spoon. Stir in remaining ingredients except 1/2 cup sugar. Cover and refrigerate about 2 hours or until firm.
2. Heat oven to 350°.
3. Shape dough into 1 1/2-inch balls. Roll balls in 1/2 cup granulated sugar. Place about 3 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Press bottom of drinking glass on each ball until about 1/4 inch thick. Sprinkle each cookie with a little additional sugar.
4. Bake 13 to 15 minutes or until set and edges just begin to turn brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet to wire rack.
*Do not use vegetable oil spreads.
**Do not use self-rising flour.
