I developed this recipe to help my children appreciate their rich Utah pioneer heritage," says Janis Chudleigh. "The pioneers called Utah the land of milk and honey,' and 'Deseret,' meaning honey bee, was their symbol for industry." Honey is a food rich in symbolism. The ancient Greeks thought that honey fell to earth from the tables of the gods, and some ancient Romans thought that honey was juice that dripped down from the stars, which the bees gathered up.
