Asked about a memorable cooking experience, Ellen Nishimura supplied this tale: "Three years ago my husband trained for a marathon. The day before the race, it started to rain. He was determined to run no matter what. That night the rain developed into one of the worst storms all winter. I was so worried I couldn't sleep, and at three in the morning I got up and started to bake cookies to try to relax. My husband slept through the storm--and my baking--and at six o'clock in the morning, he found me in the kitchen--with over nine dozen cookies. I took them to work. Lou ran the marathon in the storm and hasn't run another since--but my coworkers keep encouraging him to try again."
