1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 cup lukewarm water
1 package dry yeast
5 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg
1 recipe Onion Filling
Dissolve sugar, water, and yeast; set aside. Cream together butter, sugar, and salt; add egg and beat well. Add yeast mixture; mix and knead until smooth and elastic. Let rise until double in bulk. Punch down and roll out on floured board; cut with 3-inch round cookie cutter. Place 1 teaspoon of Onion Filling on each circle; dampen edges, fold over and press edges together. Put onto greased baking sheet and let rise until doubled. Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes.
