Cherry And Apple Cobbler

Serves: 6

   1 1/2 cups puréed sour red cherries
   1/4 cup sugar
   1 large apple, sliced
   1 1/2 cups flour
   1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
   1 tablespoon sugar
   1/4 teaspoon salt
   1/4 cup butter or margarine
   1 egg, slightly beaten
   1/4 cup milk


Add cherries, sugar and apple; mix. Put mixture into buttered baking dish. Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar and salt; cut in butter. Mix egg and milk together; add to flour mixture. Knead 30 seconds on floured board; put on top of fruit mixture. Bake at 400° for 25 to 30 minutes. Serve warm.
