Bran Muffins

   1 egg
   1/3 cup molasses
   3/4 cup buttermilk
   2 1/4 cups cooking bran
   1 cup flour
   1 teaspoon baking powder
   1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
   1/4 cup brown sugar
   4 tablespoons melted butter or margarine
   1/2 cup raisins or chopped dates


Beat egg. Add molasses and buttermilk. Mix together bran, flour, baking powder, baking soda and brown sugar; add to mixture. Stir quickly with a fork; add butter and dates. Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes.
