Dessert Dress-Ups

Easier to make than you think, these "dress-ups" add pizzazz to any dessert. Sprinkling with ground cinnamon, baking cocoa or powdered sugar is a fun, easy way to dress up a dessert. Place a small amount of one of the three in a small sieve or sifter, and tap to dust over desserts or plates. Here are some ideas:

-Place a small paper doily or stencil on a plate, and dust with cinnamon, cocoa or powdered sugar. Remove the doily and arrange the piece of dessert on the plate.

-For desserts such as a piece of unfrosted cake or cheesecake, place a doily or stencil on top of the food and dust with cinnamon, cocoa or powdered sugar in a pretty design.

-Dust cinnamon, cocoa or powdered sugar onto a plate. Or, for a pretty pattern, dust cinnamon, cocoa or powdered sugar over fork tines around the plate edge.
