Meringue Shell For Pies

Ingredients

3 egg whites
1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
1 cup sugar

Directions:

Beat egg whites and cream of tartar together until foamy. Beat in sugar, a small amount at a time until meringue forms stir, glossy peaks. Lightly butter a 9-inch pie plate. Spoon meringue over bottom and up sides to form a shell. Bake at 275°F for 1 hour. Turn off oven and leave meringue in oven to cool.
