Peas and Cheese Salad

1/3 cup mayonnaise-like salad dressing
1 tablespoon mustard prepared
1/2 teaspoon basil dried basil leaves, crushed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
4 cups peas fresh peas, cooked, or 2 packages (10 oz. each) frozen thawed
8 ounces sharp cheddar cheese cubed (about 1 1/3 cups)
1 (8-ounce) can water chestnut sliced, drained
1/2 cup green onion sliced
1/4 cup pimiento chopped
lettuce leaves
4 slices bacon fried crisp and crumbled


In a large bowl, combine salad dressing, mustard, basil, salt and pepper until blended. Stir in peas, cheese, water chestnuts, green onions and pimiento until well coated. Cover and chill at least 2 hours.

To serve, spoon into a lettuce-lined bowl. Sprinkle with bacon.
