Looking for something to replace the raisins? Try dried cherries or dried cranberries for a refreshing change of flavor and color.
2/3 cup granulated sugar
2/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup margarine or butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 rib baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
3 cups quick-cooking or old-fashioned oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup raisins, chopped nuts or semisweet chocolate chips, if desired

1. Heat oven to 375°.
2. Mix all ingredients except oats, flour and raisins in large bowl. Stir in oats, flour and raisins.
3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto ungreased cookie sheet.
4. Bake 9 to 11 minutes or until light brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
