Brown Sugar Drops |

Batch Size: 6 dozen cookies
An old-fashioned favorite, we think this drop cookie shouts versatility! Stir in 1 cup of your favorite chopped nuts or shredded coconut or 3 cups of cut-up gumdrops for a fun twist.

2 cups packed brown sugar
1 cup shortening
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk or water
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt

1. Mix brown sugar, shortening, eggs and buttermilk. Stir in remaining ingredients. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour.
2. Heat oven to 400°. Grease cookie sheet.
3. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonfuls about 2 inches apart onto cookie sheet.
4. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until almost no indentation remains when touched. Immediately remove from cookie sheet. Cool on wire rack.
