1 pound chestnuts
Water to cover
2 cups sugar
3/4 cup honey
1. Soak chestnuts overnight in water to cover. Drain, shell and dry.
2. Combine sugar and honey and cook over low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture dissolves and is syrup-like.
3. Add chestnuts and cook, covered, over very low heat until tender (about 2 hours), stirring frequently.
4. Separate chestnuts. Arrange on a serving platter, which has been either covered with waxed paper or rubbed generously with peanut oil. Let cool; then serve.
