Low-Fat
Prep: 5 min; Cook: 5 min; Cool: 30 min; 8 servings, about 1 1/4 cups
___ cup granulated sugar
___ cup baking cocoa
___ cup milk
_ tablespoons butter or stick margarine
_ tablespoon light corn syrup
Dash of salt
___ to 3/4 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1. Mix granulated sugar and cocoa in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in milk, butter, corn syrup and salt. Heat to
boiling, stirring frequently. Boil 3 minutes, stirring occasionally; cool 30 minutes.
2. Beat in powdered sugar and vanilla until smooth. Frosts 8- or 9-inch one-layer cake or 13 X 9-inch cake.
Note: To fill and frost an 8- or 9-inch two-layer cake, double the ingredients and use a 3-quart saucepan.
*Do not use vegetable oil spreads.
