Some of the best apple varieties for baking are Braeburn, Fuji, Gala, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Greening, Jonagold and Rome. Try them all
2 baking apples, cored and sliced
1 teaspoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon dried cranberries
1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon butter or margarine, melted
4 gingersnaps, crushed
1. Heat oven to 375°. Spray 1-quart casserole with cooking spray.
2. Place apples in dish; sprinkle with lemon juice. Mix remaining ingredients until crumbly; sprinkle over apples. Cover with aluminum foil. Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until apples are tender.
