Low-Fat! Prep: 10 min; Grill: 15 min
Spice it up! Substitute 1/2 pound of the ground beef with hot or mild bulk Italian sausage.
1 pound lean ground beef
1/3 cup spaghetti sauce
3 tablespoons finely chopped red onions
4 slices (1 ounce each) provolone cheese, cut in half
4 lettuce leaves
4 hamburger buns, split
4 slices red onions
Spaghetti sauce, warmed, if desired
1. Heat coals or gas grill for direct heat.
2. Mix beef, spaghetti sauce and chopped onion. Shape mixture into 4 patties, about 3/4 inch thick.
3. Cover and grill patties 4 to 6 inches from medium heat 10 to 15 minutes, turning once, until no longer pink in center and juice is clear. Top with cheese. Place lettuce on bottoms of buns; top with burgers, sliced onion and tops of buns. Serve with spaghetti sauce.
