Raised Doughnuts

Ingredients

1 cup milk
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 package dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon
flour
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, well beaten
flour

Directions:

At night, scald milk. Add butter and salt cool to lukewarm. Soften yeast in warm water add to milk mixture. Add nutmeg. Add flour to make a soft dough. Next morning add sugar, eggs, and flour to form a soft roll dough. Cover and let rise until double in size. Roll on floured board and cut with doughnut cutter. Cook in deep, hot oil at 365°F until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
