Wilted Lettuce Salad

Ingredients

lettuce
8 slices bacon
1/2 cup cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
6 tablespoons sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper freshly ground
1 egg sliced, hard cooked

Directions:

Fill a large salad bowl with torn, washed and dried leaf lettuce. Dice the bacon and fry until crisp. Remove from pan and reserve. Add vinegar, water, sugar, salt and pepper to the bacon grease. Heat to boiling. Scatter the bacon and sliced egg over the lettuce. Pour the hot dressing over the lettuce and toss. Serve at once.
