Whole Wheat Waffles with Honey-Pecan Syrup

BETTY'S TIP: Toasted nuts give these waffles a delicious crunch. To toast nuts, bake uncovered in an ungreased shallow pan in a 350° oven about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown.


   _ cups Original Bisquick®
   ___ cup whole wheat flour
   _ 1/2 cups milk
   _ tablespoons sugar
   _ tablespoons vegetable oil
   _ egg
   Honey-Pecan Syrup:
   ___ cup honey
   ___ cup pecans halves, toasted
   ___ cup margarine or butter


1. Make Honey-Pecan Syrup; keep warm. Heat waffle iron; grease if necessary.

2. Stir remaining ingredients until blended. Pour batter for waffle onto center of hot waffle iron. Repeat with remaining batter.

3. Bake about 5 minutes or until steaming stops. Carefully remove waffle. Serve with syrup.

Honey-Pecan Syrup
3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup pecan halves, toasted
1/4 cup margarine or butter
Heat all ingredients in 1-quart saucepan over low heat, stirring occasionally, until margarine is melted and mixture is hot.
