The taste-winning recipes met the challenges of our fast-paced lifestyle in new, often surprising ways. Ingredient lists included everyday pantry items such as purchased Alfredo sauce, peanut butter and dried pasta. Feeding hungry families fast was the main motivation behind many of the finalists' creative recipes, and using up leftovers in unique ways also provided inspiration. Parmesan Chicken with Pasta Rags was created as a way to use up half-filled boxes of lasagna noodles, and Fiesta Spaghetti was born when a finalist used leftover taco-seasoned meat to make spaghetti sauce. Pairing different ethnic flavors also continued as a popular trend. Chicken Manicotti Olé and Tex-Mex Pasta both crossed cooking borders by mixing the highly popular cuisines of Mexico and Italy.

Although the entries varied widely in terms of cooking techniques and tastes, they all shared a common thread: convenience. Chances are the question of what to make for dinner will continue for decades fortunately, each new Bake-Off® provides dozens of wonderful, great-tasting answers.
