1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sifted flour
1 3/4 cups brown sugar, packed, divided
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon liquid coconut flavor
2 eggs
1 cup shredded coconut
1 cup pecans, chopped
Combine butter, flour, and 1/4 cup brown sugar; press in a 9-inch square greased baking pan and bake at 375°F for 20 minutes. Combine 1 1/2 cups brown sugar, baking powder, coconut flavoring, eggs, shredded coconut, and pecans. Spread evenly over the first mixture and bake at 375°F for 30 minutes. Cut while warm and remove from pan.
