About 3 Dozen appetizers
These meaty morsels pack a mouthful of smoky maple flavor! If Mexican food is your passion, you may want to substitute tomato sauce in place of the barbecue sauce and salsa instead of the syrup. Toss in some chopped jalapeno chilies, and you'll really turn up the heat!
1 pound ground turkey breast
2 egg whites
1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup fat-free (skim) milk
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup barbecue sauce
1/4 cup maple syrup
1. Heat oven to 400°. Spray rectangular pan, 13 X 9 X 2 inches, with cooking spray. Mix turkey, egg whites, onion, bread crumbs, milk, salt and pepper. Shape mixture into
1-inch balls. Arrange meatballs, sides not touching, in pan.
2. Bake uncovered 15 to 20 minutes or until turkey is no longer pink. Heat barbecue sauce and syrup in 1-quart saucepan, stirring occasionally, until hot.
3. Place meatballs in chafing dish or serving dish. Pour sauce mixture over meatballs, or serve it on the side for dipping.
