In Italy, a fruit salad is called Macedonia, because that country was once divided up into many little sections that were brought together to make a whole, just as the salad is made up of bite-size pieces of different fruits. In the winter, when fruit choices are limited, Italians make salads like this one dressed with honey and lemon juice. As a variation, substitute apricot jam or orange marmalade for the honey.
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 grapefruit, peeled and separated into wedges
2 kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
2 ripe pears
2 cups green seedless grapes, havled lengthwise
1 In a large bowl, mix together the honey, orange juice, and lemon juice.
2 Add the fruits to the bowl and toss well. Chill for at least 1 hour or up to 4 hours before serving.
