(Frutti di Bosco al Limone)
Category: Fruit Desserts
Fresh lemon juice and sugar bring out all the flavor of berries. Try this with just one berry variety or combination. Top the dressed berries with a scoop of lemon ice or sorbet if you like.
One of my favorite berries, the tiny wild strawberry (fragoline del bosco), is common in Italy but not widely available here. Wild strawberries have mouthwatering strawberry aroma and are easy grow in a flowerpot. Seeds are available from many catalog companies, and you can buy the plants many nurseries here in the United States.
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 cup blackberries
1 cup blueberries
1 cup raspberries
2 tablespoons (about) freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tablespoon (about) sugar
1 In a large bowl, gently toss the berries together. Drizzle with the lemon juice and sugar to taste. Taste and adjust seasoning.
2 Place the berries in shallow serving dishes. Serve immediately.
