Fruit with Honey and Grappa |

Grappa is a kind of brandy made from vinaccia, the skins and seeds that are left after grapes are pressed to make wine. At one time, grappa was a coarse beverage mostly drunk in northern Italy by farmhands and laborers for warmth on cold winter days. Today, grappa is a very refined drink, sold in designer bottles with ornate stoppers. Some grappas are flavored with fruit or herbs, while others are aged in wood casks. Use a simple, unflavored grappa for this fruit salad and for other cooking purposes.
1/3 cup honey
1/3 cup grappa, brandy, or fruit liqueur
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
2 kiwifruit, peeled and sliced
2 navel oranges, peeled and cut into wedges
1 pint strawberries, sliced
1 cup havled green seedless grapes
2 medium bananas, sliced
1 In a large serving bowl, mix together the honey, grappa, and lemon juice.
2 Stir in the kiwis, oranges, strawberries, and grapes. Chill for at least 1 hour or up to 4 hours. Stir in the bananas just before serving.
