Grilled summer fruits are great for a barbecue. Serve them plain or with slices of sponge cake and ice cream.
If using wood skewers, soak them in cold water at least 30 minutes to prevent burning.
2 nectarines, cut into 1-inch chunks
2 plums, cut into 1-inch chunks
2 pears, cut into 1-inch chunks
2 apricot, cut into quarters
2 bananas, cut into 1-inch chunks
Fresh mint leaves
2 tablespoons (about) sugar
1 Place a barbecue grill or broiler rack about 5 inches away from the heat source. Preheat the grill or broiler.
2 Alternate pieces of the fruits with the mint leaves on 6 skewers. Sprinkle with the sugar.
3 Grill or broil the fruit 3 minutes on one side. Turn the skewers and grill or broil until lightly browned, about 2 minutes more. Serve hot.
