Cheeseburger Pie

Ingredients

pastry for 1 (9-inch) one-crust pie, unbaked
1 pound ground beef
1/2 teaspoon ground oregano
1/2 cup crushed soda crackers
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped green pepper
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

CHEESE TOPPING:
1 egg, beaten
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
2 cups grated Cheddar cheese

Directions:

Brown meat. Drain. Stir in remaining ingredients and pour into pastry shell.

Cheese Topping:
Combine egg and milk. Stir in seasonings and cheese. Spread topping evenly over filling. Cover edge of pie crust with 2-3-inch strip of aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning. Remove foil the last 15 minutes of baking. Bake in 425° oven for 30 minutes.
