Fresh Cabbage Soup

Ingredients

5 slices bacon, diced
1 pound cabbage, chopped
2 carrots, diced
2 potatoes, diced
1 stalk celery, sliced
1 1/2 quarts water
2 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons butter or margarine, softened
salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

Fry bacon until golden in large saucepan; drain fat. Add vegetables and water; bring to boil, then simmer 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender. Blend flour into butter until smooth; stir into soup. Bring soup to boil, stirring well. Shut off heat, add seasoning, stir, and serve.
