Sausage Pizza

Ingredients

1 (14-ounce) can crushed tomato in puree
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 clove garlic, minced
1/4 pound mild Italian-style turkey sausage, crumbled
1 cup diced fresh mushrooms
1/2 small zucchini, diced
1 recipe Pizza Dough
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese

Directions:

1. Place the oven rack on the lowest rung. Spray a 12-inch pizza pan or baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat the oven to 450°F.

2. To prepare the tomato sauce, in a small saucepan, combine the tomatoes, oil, oregano, and garlic bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer 5 minutes set aside.

3. Spray a medium nonstick skillet with nonstick cooking spray heat. Add the sausage and cook, stirring, until well browned, 3-4 minutes transfer with a slotted spoon to a plate. Drain off the accumulated fat and return the pan to the heat. Add the mushrooms and zucchini cook, stirring, until the mushrooms have released and reabsorbed their juices and the zucchini is lightly browned, about 5 minutes set aside.

4. Meanwhile, shape the pizza dough in the prepared pan as directed in the recipe. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.

5. Evenly spread the tomato sauce over the pizza. Bake until lightly browned, 10 minutes, then sprinkle with the sausage, cooked vegetables, and cheese. Bake until bubbling, 5-8 minutes. Serve immediately.
