Pizza Margherita

Ingredients

1 (14 1/2-ounce) can crushed tomato in puree
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 clove garlic, minced
1 recipe Pizza Dough
1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese
10-12 fresh basil leaves

Directions:

1. Place the oven rack on the lowest rung. Spray a 12-inch pizza pan or baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray. Preheat the oven to 450°F.

2. To prepare the tomato sauce, in a small saucepan, combine the tomatoes, oil, oregano, and garlic bring to a boil. Lower the heat and simmer 5 minutes set aside.

3. Meanwhile, shape the pizza dough in the prepared pan as directed in the recipe. Spray with nonstick cooking spray.

4. Evenly spread the tomato sauce over the pizza. Bake until lightly browned, 10 minutes, then sprinkle with the cheese and basil leaves. Bake until bubbling, 5-8 minutes. Serve immediately.
