*Dump and Do Dinners

Serves: 5

Ingredients

Directions:

When you can’t stand the idea of standing over the stove for more than five minutes, it’s time to turn to the Dump and Dos. You cook everything at one time in one pot or pan or quickly top an ordinary dish with something delicious. These recipes take a minimal amount of attention, freeing you to clean up quickly, set the table, or simply sit down and relax for a few minutes.

When working in the kitchen, try to think of ways that you can cut corners or combine steps. For instance, cook pasta according to the package directions, but dump the vegetables, such as broccoli, into the pot during the last 5 minutes of the cooking time. This means you only have one pot to wash instead of two. If you are adding canned beans to a pasta dish and want to rinse them first, dump the beans in a colander and drain the cooked pasta over them. This rinses the beans and heats them up at the same time ... hence, dump and do.
