Turnip Casserole

Serves: 6

3 1/2 cups turnips pared and sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
dash black pepper
1 1/2 cups milk
2/3 cup Cheddar cheese shredded


Cook turnips in boiling salted water until tender. Drain thoroughly. Melt butter in saucepan, add flour, salt and pepper. Add milk and cook, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.

Combine sauce and turnips, pour into a casserole. Top with cheese and bake in 350° oven until hot and bubbly.
