Serving Size: 1 twist
Freshly ground black pepper adds a nice spice kick to the twists. These are easy to make ahead; just cover them tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until ready to bake. They go great with clam chowder or tomato soup.
1/2 (17-ounce) package frozen puff pastry dough , thawed
1 egg, beaten
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
2 teaspoons black pepper
1. Heat oven to 425°.
2. Roll sheet of dough into 18 x 12-inch rectangle; brush with beaten egg. Sprinkle cheese over half of rectangle; fold remaining half over cheese and press edges to seal.
3. Brush dough with egg; sprinkle with pepper. Cut pastry lengthwise into 1/2-inch strips. Twist strips and place on cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until light golden brown.
